The Manager of General Accounting provides leadership and guidance to the enterprise and sector specific accounting shared services organization. The position supports Northrop Grumman operating sector(s) and business units. The position reports to the Senior Manager of General Accounting in Bloomington, MN.

This position has an office requirement of two days per work week and offers a hybrid telecommuting arrangement.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. Compiles and analyzes financial information to record transactions, prepare reports, and review and verify accuracy. Prepares balance sheet and profit and loss statements, consolidated financial statements, and other accounting schedules and reports. May design, modify, install, and/or maintain accounting systems to ensure adequate recognition of financial transactions. Responsible for the adherence to and communication of accounting and auditing policies and procedures.
• Coordinates daily accounting operations in ERP (Costpoint and/or SAP)
• Manage direct reports who support accounting operations, ensuring completion of tasks accurately, timely, effectively, and in accordance with quality requirements
• Oversee team members' performance and engage in career coaching/development conversations
• Coordinates portions of the monthly/quarterly/year-end close process according to requirements
• Review and approve monthly and quarterly account reconciliations in Blackline and works to resolve reconciling items timely
• Review and approve monthly reconciliations of sub-systems to general ledger, i.e., Sales & Profit to GL/HFM
• Complete the monthly load and tie-out of ERP financial data to the financial reporting HFM tool
• Journal entry review, approval, and posting
• Maintain the general ledger chart of accounts
• Support other functions as needed (such as tax, financial reporting, etc.)
• Analyzes monthly trial balances
• Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with business units and sector financial reporting teams
• Champion for process automation/improvements - lead implementation efforts
• Represents and supports organization on special projects, including system upgrade/implementations
• Special projects as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline
5+ years of relevant experience in Finance or Accounting
1+ years of leadership or supervisory experience
Knowledgeable of software applications as they relate to the General Ledger and supporting systems
Exposure to financial reporting tools; Hyperion Financial Management preferred or similar system
Knowledge of GAAP/FAR, cost pools/allocations and inter-company accounting
Preferred Qualifications:
Costpoint and SAP ERP experience
CPA
Strong digital transformation and data analytic skills
Experience working in a shared services organization
Salary Range: $102,400.00 - $153,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
