Northrop Grumman in Azusa, CA is seeking a Maintenance Carpenter / Painter to join our payload & ground systems team. This role is represented by our bargaining unit union organization.

Summary
Plans sequence of operations and methods used to rework, repair, remodel, and alter all types of wooden structures and related facilities installations. Sets up and operates various woodworking machines in conjunction with work assignments. Paints factory and office external and internal surfaces, furniture or equipment utilizing brushes, rollers, and appropriate painting equipment including spray equipment.

Work Performed
Determines method and sequence of work operations and the quality and size of raw stock and hardware necessary to complete assignments. May make working sketches of partitions, walls, scaffolding, prefabrication carpentry, fixtures, and frames. Repairs, replaces, and maintains lock assemblies, security locks, and all door hardware.

Performs rough and finish carpentry work such as building, repairing, and installing cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, doors, building framework, and trim, using carpenters hand tools, portable or shop power tools, and standard measuring instruments. Works from sketches, drawing, and templates and verbal instructions to obtain dimension and finish specifications.

Prepares paint for proper application and prepares surfaces for proper paint adhesion, uses various types of large equipment, and hand tools. Performs trim work of interior and exterior doors, walls, and fixtures etc.

Performs related and incidental work assignments as required. Must be physically capable of working in high places from ladders, etc. Must be able to follow exact written and verbal instructions. Performs preventative maintenance to department standards as required.

Provides documentation and proper recording of maintenance department records including preventative maintenance. Observes company, OSHA, and safety regulations.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Normally 2 years college or trade school
  • Normally 4 years of construction and/or maintenance carpentry.
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals and drawings
  • must be computer literate to the extent required to perform job functions and proper recording and documentation of maintenance records
  • Must possess a valid state of California drivers license
  • Must be able to perform all essential job functions and environmental/physical considerations per employee requisition
