We are seeking a Machinist 4 for 2nd Shift to support manufacturing operations in Commerce, CA.
This position will train on 1st shift (5am - 1:30pm) for up to 60 days and then move to 2nd shift (2:15pm - 11:30pm)

Overview
Reporting to the Machining Manufacturing Manager, the Machinist 4 will be responsible for the execution and support of all machining activities and inspection of next generation composite structures
Role and Responsibilities:
Set up and operation of Horizontal HAAS, DMG Mori lathe and 5-axis DMG Mori milling machines
Determine sequence of operations, cuts required, and setup method
Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, and machining parameters; interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)
Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining
Select appropriate tools, machines, and materials for preparation of machined work
Fit and assemble precision parts into mechanical equipment and determine material, parts, and equipment required
Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products and determine product dimensions and tolerances
Diagnose machine malfunctions and need for adjustments or repairs through observing and listening to operating machines or equipment
Check workpieces to ensure proper lubrication and cooling
Maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures
Support and implement new, customer-focused processes in accordance with lean principles and practices
Provide training and coaching to more junior teammates to improve work standards, work center organization (5S), and housekeeping
Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent and 10+ yrs of CNC machining experience, or combination of additional education and experience
Experience running 5-axis CNC machinery
Experience in machining composites, honeycomb, aluminum; and titanium or other exotic metals
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, production specifications, production diagrams, assembly drawings, and technical specifications
Experience with GD & T, complex measurements and advanced shop math calculations relative to tolerances, dimensions, tooling, and feeds and speeds
Experience following written set-up instructions and /or performing unique set-ups
Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, and weekends as needed
* Preferred Qualifications:
Associates degree or Trade School certification w/ minimum 5 years of experience
Experience with HAAS GM2 5-Axis Controllers
Demonstrated ability to resolve unforeseen, unique issues as they arise in machining a part
* Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and disciplines
Salary Range: $70,400.00 - $117,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
