This position will be on-site at our Plymouth, MN facility. No remote opportunities available.
The successful candidate for this role will function as a lead engineer for weapon payload development programs of significant complexity and scope in the Fuzing and Warheads Operating Unit. Responsibilities for this position encompass oversight, planning and technical direction to engineering, design, procurement and manufacturing teams in support of the program manager; and as the primary technical interface with the customer technical team. This position requires an individual who can multi-task, delegate effectively, and possesses exceptional time management skills. Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills are critical. In this role, the individual will interface with program managers and customers, and direct the work of engineers of various disciplines to accomplish program objectives.
Job Responsibilities:

Oversee the execution of systems engineering and development of architecture and design to meet customer requirements.
Manage the engineering effort to comply with the Northrop Grumman quality management system processes.
Provide technical oversight of requirements, architecture and design trade studies to select the best possible design solutions, taking into account system performance and functionality, material selection, strength, weight, manufacturability and cost.
Coordinate the presentation of technical data at program reviews (including the System Requirement Review (SRR), System Functional Review (SFR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR) and in technical reports.
Coordinate with production engineers and facilities to transition ordnance design into production.
Coordinate Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) workshops during the design and development phase of the program.
Direct the work of engineers of various disciplines to accomplish program objectives.
Manage cost and schedule for assigned projects/programs.
Participate in business development activities including development of technology roadmaps, customer interface meetings, proposal writing and cost estimating.
Qualifications:

BS in Engineering is required; Electrical, Mechanical, Systems or Aerospace degree is strongly preferred with 14 years of related engineering design experience ; 12 Years with Masters; 10 Years with PhD, all including 5 years in a related technical leadership capacity.
Previous defense industry experience.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures.
Strong understanding of computer aided design (CAD).
Understanding of finite element analysis for structural analysis and thermal analysis of designs.
Six Sigma and design for assembly / design for manufacturing (DFA/DFM) experience.
Experience with cost account management and reporting, preferably Earned Value Management System (EVMS).
U.S. Citizenship: must be able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.
Able to multi-task and delegate effectively; and possess exceptional time management skills.
Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently as well as in a team leadership environment.
Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Word, Power Point, Project).
Domestic travel: approximately 8-12 times per year to meet with customers and suppliers.
Salary Range: $179,600.00 - $269,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
