Northrop Grumman Space Systems - Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Kinematics Engineer - Software to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located on-site at Schriever Space Force Base, CO. Relocation assistance is not available.
Position Overview:
The selected Kinematics Engineer - Software will support the Threat Modeling Center (TMC) product line of the DE Task Order on the Specialized Warfighter Development Contract (SWDC). This position is responsible for working with a group of engineers that generates the kinematic output data of simulated missile trajectories for the TMC. This includes analyzing, benchmarking, validation and verification, documenting, and integrating simulation products and data for the TMC organization. This data is delivered as part of an Integrated Threat Product (ITP) to various Department of Defense customers (primarily within the MDA) to drive the Threat portion of their simulations. ITPs are produced and delivered anywhere between one day and six months, so flexibility, requirements identification, and time management skills are musts.
Primary responsibilities include:

Design, develop, document, test and debug applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
Uses/updates software to generate the kinematic output data of simulated missile trajectories for the TMC to be delivered as part of an Integrated Threat Product (ITP) to various Department of Defense customers (primarily within the MDA) to drive the threat portion of their simulations.
Possess a strong understanding of each threat country's differing capabilities, preferred Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) and strategic objectives for any given scenario and be able to apply these capabilities to the specific scenario.
Review customer scenario requests and provides feedback on potential problems or issues before the production process begins.
Review final documentation and data to ensure the customer's objectives were met and the high-resolution data accurately reflects the specifications provided to the Threat Modeling Center.
Generating kinematic trajectories using the TMC's Threat Modeling & Simulation Suite (TMSS) and trouble-shooting products and data.
The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels.
Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 3 years of related experience
Active DoD Secret Clearance
Experience in modeling and simulation
Knowledge of missiles and six degrees of freedom (6 DoF) trajectory representation
Familiarity with missile defense system components and their interoperability
Understanding of Linux and Windows based platforms with their associated software
Ability to work independently and in groups equally well; must be a self-starter
Excellent time management, schedule estimation
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in agile software development methodologies including Scrum, Kanban, and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
Knowledge/experience in SQL queries
Experience with large code base M&S systems using an optimistic and/or conservative discrete event simulation platform
Knowledge or experience in several of the following: missile defense domain knowledge, command and control, and modeling and simulation development
* Experience with Atlassian tools such as JIRA, confluence, and GIT
Primary Level Salary Range: $100,300.00 - $150,500.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
