Responsibilities:
Provides training units with the simulation environment and mission command stimulation that fulfills exercise planning documents provided by the team's Lead
Leverages comprehensive knowledge, understanding, and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts of simulation systems and federation guidelines
Works independently most of the time with general or no direction
Develops approaches to solutions and independently makes decisions that do not result in serious program delays or considerable expenditure of resources
Facilitates daily inter-organizational and outside customer contacts and represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects
Interprets exercise planning documents to best install and configure hardware, software, and networks on physical or virtual systems running Microsoft Windows (Pro and / or Server) and RedHat Linux operating systems
Researches and uses best judgement to fill in needed information for system configuration and operation
When system errors occur, evaluates error messages, system / program logs, observed system operation deviations, etc. to best evaluate the problems and attempt corrective actions
Informs team manager of issues when corrective action cannot be found
Authors problem tickets with sufficient descriptive detail to allow help desk to understand issues at hand that require outside support
Follows all applicable Information Assurance (IA) protocols defined by the Department of Defense (DoD) and our customer
Maintains all applicable DoD security technical implementation guides (STIGs), operating system and application patches for all systems under their responsibility
Ensures that backups of critical data are done within the capabilities and specifications provided by the customer
Maintains user accounts on system(s) to which the employee administrates under DoD and / or system specific authority to operate documentation
Serves as shift lead over junior systems analysts during shift work periods
Acts as team lead when Lead is not on duty
Provides subject matter expertise in the areas of systems administration, military simulations, and stimulation of military tactical systems by simulation systems
Shall be proficient with current and future versions of simulation operating software and hardware fielded to the Mission Training Complex
Basic Qualifications:
One of the following:
High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 9 years of experience in Computer Science (CS), Information Technology (IT), Cybersecurity and/or Information Assurance (IA)
Bachelor's degree in CS, IT, Cybersecurity and/or IA, or related discipline with a minimum of 5 years of experience in one of these fields
Master's degree in CS, IT, Cybersecurity and/or IA, or related discipline with a minimum of 3 years of experience in one of these fields
Meet DoD 8570.01-M Baseline Computing Environment (CE) Certification Requirements at Information Assurance Technical Level II (IAT II) or must meet the minimum DoD 8140 DCWF equivalent requirements (Intermediate)
Must be able to successfully meet all training required of DoD computing environments for all supported systems within 6 months of hire
Experience as a federation manager of High-Level Architecture (HLA) and Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) training federations
At least five years' experience in Joint Land Component Constructive Training Capability (JLCCTC) technical and operational competencies, including experience in configuring, maintaining, and integrating JLCCTC federate systems
Active U.S. DoD Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance
Able to work independently and act as staff lead when section manager is unavailable.
Must be able to work on-site at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington
Must be able to travel as needed (up to 10% of the time)
Must be a disciplined worker capable of meeting short suspense.
Must be able to support shifts that occur outside normal working hours to support 24/7 operations during exercise events that may be more than 40 hours per week.
Must be able to lift and move computer workstations and other equipment weighting up to 50 pounds
Must be able to reposition into areas of the facility above and below desks and tables to facilitate computer workstation and peripheral equipment hookups
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years' experience in planning simulation exercise architectures, supervising implementation of communication systems, and integration of Army Mission Command Systems in support of distributed exercises
Minimum of 5 years of experience with JLCCTC in support of Corps and below level events
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Federation Manager of High Level Architecture training federations
Certification in Linux OS such as CompTIA Linux+, Linux Foundation Certified System Administrator or Redhat Certified Systems Administrator
Experience with VMWare installation, configuration, and maintenance
Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate certification in Windows 10 and / or Server 2012
Salary Range: $100,300.00 - $150,500.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
