Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a self-motivated and hard-working Aircraft Maintenance Manager for the Japan Global Hawk (GH) Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) Program in Misawa, Japan. This role will be initially based in the U.S. during the preparation phase of the CLS program and will relocate to Misawa, Japan at the end of this year (schedule pending). The Maintenance manager will be responsible for working with the Japan Air Self Defense Force (JASDF) squadron to manage daily maintenance activities in support of Japan's mission requirements, in addition to providing over-the-shoulder support to the JASDF when required.

Responsible for the daily maintenance operations for a fleet of on-station Global Hawk Aircraft. Applies maintenance management knowledge, skills and techniques to effectively manage this high profile program. Oversees maintenance servicing and repair to ensure that aircraft are in good mechanical condition and safe for flight. Ensures trained professionals are on-site for launch, recovery and designated maintenance tasks. Attend daily meetings, releases aircraft for flight, authorized CANN/MICAP actions, prioritize maintenance efforts, assist with scheduling and make mission essential determinations. Recommend procedure changes to improve maintainability of aircraft and timely inspections. Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports.

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for planning, managing, executing of GH maintenance activities in Japan. This includes, but is not limited to the following tasks and responsibilities:
Plan, direct, and coordinate all maintenance activities on-site in Misawa, Japan
Manage diverse maintenance team of 10-15 maintenance personnel and supporting hiring activities, as required
Assume management duties of overall team in the Site Managers' absence
Able to establish plans and schedules to support the requirements, milestones, and organizational infrastructure to sustain and deliver on the contractual obligations.
Monitors adherence to the SOW and schedule, export/import requirements, security requirements, and quality processes and procedures
Support negotiation of contract and contract changes as needed
Develop customer relationships and ensure customer satisfaction and positive outcomes
Ability to ensure program meets customer/contractual requirements for quality, cost, and schedule, maintaining compliance with regulatory, policy, and host country laws and regulations
Identifying risks, developing mitigation plans and monitoring progress of actions, utilizing metrics and taking corrective actions as needed
Achieving high customer satisfaction and employee engagement ratings
Identifying, allocating and managing program resources, including workforce planning
Managing Government/customer supplied property or information
Managing on-site supplier representatives to meet program objectives
Adherence to all internal processes, policies, and applicable industry standards
Basic Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelor's Degree with 5 years OR 9 years experience in lieu of degree
Must have an active DoD Secret clearance or higher (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
Proven leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work between various departments, sectors, and suppliers
Able to work independently or with minimal supervision
Must be able to support the 24/7, fast paced, operations environment and adapt to changing priorities based on mission need
Willingness to work after hours and weekends as required
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous Global Hawk Maintenance supervisor or manager
5+ years of supervisory experience
Understanding of Global Hawk Aircraft Maintenance Processes and Procedures
Experience working with Japanese Ministry of Defense or in Japanese Defense Market
Familiarity with Japan culture, traditions, laws, etc
(FAA) Airframe and Power plant (A&P) and General Radiotelephone Operators License (GROL) desired
Certified UAV Technician / Aircraft Electronics Technician
Working knowledge of maintenance databases
Worked on previous Global Hawk maintenance programs
* Air Force avionics maintenance experience
Primary Level Salary Range: $97,500.00 - $146,300.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
