In this role you will be delivering contractual results meeting all cost, schedule, and quality metrics while also developing customer intimacy to support the business. You will lead a multi-disciplined, cross-functional, and geographically dispersed team to complete these objectives. You will lead a team of systems engineers supporting the program's Ground software design/development, a Quality Assurance engineer, Software Configuration Management specialists, small team of Requirement Verification engineers, and integration with the test verification of the ground.
What you'll get to do:
Lead and direct the Ground System Engineer team to meet cost, schedule and technical performance requirements, including periodic earned value and estimates at completion (EACs).
Establish and coordinate workforce planning and staffing to effectively address customer requirements.
Independently own timely delivery of key program CDRLs.
Establish requirement verification and traceability practices.
Work alongside software development leadership (Product Owners, Product Manager, Development Lead) to ensure priorities are properly understood, adhered to, and implemented by software developers.
Host and support the program's quarterly design milestone events in collaboration with the program Ground Architect. These milestone meetings drives design efforts for the following quarterly development cycle.
Generate presentation material and meeting minutes for customer milestone meetings.
Lead synchronization of design for ground functionality in integration and test verification.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in STEM with 8 years of relevant experience; Master's degree in STEM with 6 years of relevant experience; PhD in STEM with 4 years of relevant experience
Top Secret clearance required at the time of application, and the ability to obtain SCI & program clearance
Proven experience in Systems Engineering leadership for ground systems
Mission planning and/or ground operations experience
Space domain (i.e. orbit regimes), orbital/flight dynamics, and/or mission data processing experience
Ability to communicate and drive solutions in ambiguous agile environment
Exceptional organizational abilities proven by experience providing customer deliverables and managing contractual deadlines
Comfortable and confident presenting information from Microsoft PowerPoint to medium to large audiences (30+ people)
Experience leading teams composing requirements and providing verification and validation traceability
Mastery of Agile process and tools such as Jira, Confluence and Bitbucket (Atlassian tools)
Ability to travel 10% of the time
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience leading milestone Systems Engineering reviews such as Preliminary or Critical Design Reviews
Cost Account Management (CAM) & Earned Value Management System (EVMS) Certified
Prior experience as assignment manager organizing and providing tasks to a small team and reporting status such as percent complete of work performed
Familiarity with Software Assurance, Software Configuration Management, and Mission Assurance responsibilities
Experience engaging with and leading geographically dispersed teams
Primary Level Salary Range: $156,500.00 - $234,700.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
