Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.This Sr. Principal Engineer / Staff GNC Engineer be responsible for performing GNC trade studies on our cooperative development partners component configuration (examples include total impulse trades, actuator sizing, fin loading, tactical interface bandwidth, nozzle misalignment trades, thrust sizing, and battery sizing). Work in multi-disciplinary teams to develop, verify, and validate a complex 6-degree of freedom missile flight simulator.
Review GNC workshare requirements, model partner hardware, and attend weekly / monthly international partner program meetings to represent GNC both locally and internationally.
Ensure that the Systems Engineering effort complies with internal GNC standards and guidelines.
Design and implement guidance, navigation, and control (GN&C) algorithms.
Regular interface with program management, engineering staff, and external customers is expected.
Experience in documenting Interface Control Documents, Interface Requirement Specifications, and Interface Description Documents
If offered at the Engineer GNC Level 4 requires:
Basic Qualifications:
Must have 8 years experience with Bachelors in Science; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD
Experience designing, tuning, implementing, and/or testing Guidance, Navigation, and Control algorithms for guided missiles and/or interceptors.
Experience briefing/presenting technical data to customers and subject matter experts.
Experience leading change management and/or continuous improvement teams.
Experience in MATLAB and Python toolchains
Proficiency in creating and maintaining analysis tools in C++, MATLAB and Python
Proficiency in C++ development in a Linux environment
Travel up to 50% of the time
Must have active and in scope secret clearance at time of application
Preferred Qualifications:
Experienced in Systems Engineering and GNC
Prior experience as a GNC subsystem lead
GNC experience on hypersonic missiles
Experience with AEGIS weapon system
Experience with IR discrimination and tracking
Proficiency in reading, writing, and/or speaking Japanese
If offered at the Sr. Principal Engineer GNC Level 5 requires:
Basic Qualifications:
12 Years with Bachelors in Science; 10 Years with Masters; 8 Years with PhD.

Salary Range: $118,600.00 - $178,000.00Salary Range 2: $147,400.00 - $221,500.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
