Installs, upgrades and removes products ensuring coordinative engineering field change. Maintains effective customer communications and relations. May provide onsite training of customer support personnel.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Support operations and maintenance of the VADER radar system to the Department of Homeland Security (Customs and Border Patrol / Air and Marine Operations) in San Angelo, Texas.
Daily operational support: radar operations, providing intelligence analysis for mission planning, and guidance to air crew to optimize mission collection objectives.
Daily maintenance support: radar hardware and software checks, troubleshooting radar performance anomalies, and working with engineering team on anomaly resolution.
Attend meetings and serve as a liaison between Northrop Grumman, the customer and partner contract teams. Direct interface with DHS site leadership on hardware, software, and operational issues.
Assist and develop proficiency with performance of other engineering and operational duties as required.
Coordinate and perform system hardware and software upgrades/patches.
Conduct fault isolation and component level repairs on defective hardware
Coordinate with site and Northrop logistics for delivery of replacement system equipment and removal of defective hardware.
Experience with sensor payload maintenance and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with airborne radar systems and operations.
Perform/support review and analysis of engineering schematics, supplier design data, support of functional test requirements including acceptance, qualification, and system integration on the fielded systems.
Deploy to sister site in Sierra Vista, Arizona, up to 25% of time.

Basic Qualifications for a Field Engineer:
Bachelor of Science degree in STEM and a minimum of 2 years' related experience. An additional 4 years' experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
2+ years experience performing field integration, troubleshooting, and repair of systems at customer locations on a flight line or in a hangar or within a command-and-control center.
2+ years experience with Aircraft Vehicle operations associated with fielded systems.
Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
Ability to work after hours and weekends as needed.
US Citizenship required. Must have the ability to obtain and maintain special program access.
Basic Qualifications for a Principal Field Engineer:
Bachelor of Science degree in STEM and a minimum of 5 years' related experience. An additional 4 years' experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
5+ years experience performing field integration, troubleshooting, and repair of systems at customer locations on a flight line or in a hangar or within a command-and-control center.
5+ years experience with Aircraft Vehicle operations associated with fielded systems.
Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
Ability to work after hours and weekends as needed.
US Citizenship required. Must have the ability to obtain and maintain special program access.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with VADER or other airborne RADAR system.
Experience in an Electrical Engineering or other Engineering background.
Experience with daily reporting to site leads.
Experience with Microsoft Teams.
Top Secret Security Clearance
Strong verbal and written communication skills with NG engineering team and on-site customer senior leadership.
This position is contingent upon the candidate being approved for access to a Special Access Program (SAP)
Salary Range: $67,200.00 - $100,800.00Salary Range 2: $82,900.00 - $124,300.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
