The Space Manufacturing & Engineering Center has a need for a Manager of Engineering Technical Support 1 - Precision Assembly to be a functional manager and contribute technically to programs under the Manufacturing Engineering & Operations department in Redondo Beach, CA.
This is a highly dynamic and interactive position that is responsible for managing precision assembly support to all space programs and will involve interacting with numerous stakeholders, including program and functional management, multiple engineering disciplines, and logistical support services. Outstanding organizational and leadership skills are required to succeed in this role, along with an intimate knowledge of spacecraft precision assembly, including, but not limited to, capabilities, processes, and spans as they apply to bus structures, payload structures, solar arrays.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Managing a section within the broader organizational unit
• Conducting performance evaluations, including mid-year and annual reviews
• Leading the development, mentoring, and training of direct reports
• Assigning staff based on program and facility needs
• Partnering with Department and Section Managers to define and implement department strategy, focusing on critical skills, talent retention, and budget planning
• Supporting homeroom initiatives such as process improvements, Event Response Teams, and Corrective and Preventive Actions
• Driving process improvement and affordability initiatives to enhance quality, reduce cost, and meet delivery schedules
• Collaborating with managers and project leads to achieve quality, schedule, and cost objectives
• Fostering a culture of accountability, empowerment, and high performance aligned with program and business goals
• Managing the integrated master production schedule for the production area
• Promoting metrics-based management
• Providing hardware support throughout all phases-from concept to flight delivery-including producibility and readiness reviews
• Must be available to work 1st shift (6:00 AM - 3:30 PM)

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree plus 4 years of experience in a technical role OR Master's Degree plus 2 years of experience in a technical role OR High School Diploma/G.E.D plus 8 years of experience in a technical role

Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing, operations, or assembly environment
Experience with large and complex structural assemblies in the Aerospace and Defense Industry
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance or SCI access.
Must be able to work 1st shift 6am- 3:30pm
Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree in STEM (Science Technology Engineering or Math) or MBA
Prior functional management experience in a position responsible for staffing, processes, and/or products
Precision assembly management experience for space products
Broad understanding of Space Systems programs
Proficient in MS Office tools
Proven strong communication and leadership skills in a team environment
Active Top Secret clearance or SCI security access.
Salary Range: $118,000.00 - $177,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
