Job Description:
We are looking for you to join our team as a Parts Material Engineer or Principal Parts Material Engineer based out of McClellan, CA in the Sacramento area. As a Parts Material Engineer or Principal Parts Material Engineer at Northrop Grumman, you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. What You'll Get to Do:
Research, coordinate, and support analysis teammates in the selection and qualification of electronic, electric, and electromechanical components/assemblies to ensure they meet product specifications and are reliable, effective, and sustainable. The successful candidate will support the engineering team in PM&P (Parts Material and Processes) technical execution and analysis to support the next generation Ground Based Strategic Deterrence system. Component Engineering is a key driver to creating a sustainable system with qualified parts.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Review engineering part selection for qualification alignment to MIL-STD-11991A, MIL-STD-1568, and other program-specific requirements.
Recommend and assist in selecting form-fit-function replacements and alternate sources of supply

Perform part management activities in alignment with PM&P Management Plan
Ensure existing and new part numbers and descriptions are correct and crossed with manufacturers' part numbers
Manage/update part data in product lifecycle management (PLM) system
Review and adjudicates non-conforming/variance components before review board, as required
Review assigned components for design ensuring life cycle status and qualification requirements
Be familiar in material processes, lead-free control plans, and hexavalent chromium management/mitigation strategies, according to program requirements

Use and contribute to the PAPL (Program Approved Parts List), Program Approved Materials and Process List (PAMPL), and ASL (Approved Supplier List)

Develop process improvement recommendations to streamline part selection and review process
Draft component specifications to ensure parts can be manufactured to meet program requirements.
Prepare materials for and supports the various programs and technical meetings
Have good oral and written communications skills and have the ability to work with little direct supervision being self-motivated and self-starting
This position may be filled as a Parts Material Engineer or Principal Parts Material Engineer
Basic Qualifications for Parts Material Engineer:

Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 2 years of experience; or 0 years of relevant experience with a Masters (MS) degree
An additional 4 years of relevant experience/education can be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's of Science Degree

Experience working with Jira, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft SharePoint
Experience in electronic, mechanical, or material component analysis and selection
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Clearance: Must be able and willing to obtain and maintain a US DOD Secret Clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
Basic Qualifications for Principal Parts Material Engineer:

Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 5 years of experience; or 3 years of relevant experience with a Masters (MS) degree; or 0 years with a PhD
An additional 4 years of relevant experience/education can be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science Degree

Experience in electronic, mechanical, or material component analysis and selection
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Clearance: Must be able and willing to obtain and maintain a US DOD Secret Clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
Preferred Qualifications:

2 years working with SD-19, SD-22, and MIL-STD-11991A
2 years using Accuris/IHS Part Intelligence, GIDEP, Part Finder or equivalent
2 years working knowledge of FRACAS and reliability engineering
2 years using DLA ASSIST and/or DLA Qualified Products Database (QPD/QPL)
2 years working with CPLM, Teamcenter PLM
2 years experience in developing and authoring technical publications
Salary Range: $81,300.00 - $121,900.00Salary Range 2: $100,300.00 - $150,500.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
