We are looking for you to join our team as an Embedded Software Engineering Manager 2 based out of Linthicum, MD.
This position is in the Airborne Multifunction Sensors, Engineering and Sciences Organization supporting Secure Processing Software. Secure Processing Software delivers and supports solutions that enable partners to confidently deploy solutions that will remain secure in the toughest environments. Our team provides technical skills, technologies, and processes to affordably develop, design, produce and sustain products across the defense industry while providing a decisive advantage to our customers.
As the Software manager you are responsible for overseeing and coordinating the people, resources and processes required to deliver software solutions. Additionally, you are responsible for managing people performance, providing excellent staff resources to programs, and career development of employees. Expected duties include:

Provide technical oversight of design, development, and integration of software components

Engage with business leaders and customers to understand and drive business execution

Support the team in identifying and addressing impediments to the attainment of goals, including taking action to remove impediments where appropriate

Drive sustainable continuous improvement, including by collating and deriving insights from data

Generate proposal and estimates inputs for new work

Act as a Control Account Manager (CAM) using Earned Value Management System (EVMS)

Lead the team in applying the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools using Agile development methodology

Guide the team in compliance with the Internal Software Development Plan (iSDP) and the Agile Development Plan (ADP)

Coordinate with other disciplines when needed such as Systems and Hardware

Candidates must have strong communication and people leadership skills

Set, track, and measure employee performance expectations

Guide employees regarding career development

Provide technical and business coaching and mentoring

Communicate direction from the higher level organization and uphold principles of the higher organization

This position is contingent upon a successful DoD Secret clearance transfer and the ability to obtain a Special Access Program clearance prior to starting
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree with 8 years of experience, master's degree with 6 years of experience, Ph.D. with 4 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or related technical fields; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

U.S Citizenship required

An active DoD Secret clearance

The ability to obtain a Special Program Access (SAP) prior to start

3 years of experience as a Software Engineering/Development Team Leader

2 years of experience acting as a Control Account Manager (CAM) and using an Earned Value Management System (EVMS)

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience within an IPT lead role.

Prior CAM (Cost Account Management) experience.

Working knowledge of Linux or VxWorks operating systems

Board support software experience

Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certification for scrum master.

Management of budget for technical activities

Experience generating proposals and estimates inputs for new work

* Prior software functional management experience (executing performance appraisals, staffing allocations, software process leadership, and career goals development)

Primary Level Salary Range: $149,400.00 - $224,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
