Our team is focused on developing innovative technologies in military GPS, Navigation Warfare, inertial sensors and systems, GPS-Denied navigation, multi-sensor fusion, quantum sensing, clocks and timing systems, distributed and cooperative sensing, and emerging space-based positioning and timing solutions.

As a Navigation Architect at Northrop Grumman, you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to help shape the technical vision of our Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) organization while participating in our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. Your role will involve developing technical roadmaps and innovating PNT solutions that address evolving mission needs. You will interface with customers to understand their requirements and shape business opportunities that align with our strategic objectives. Collaboration will be key as you work across Northrop Grumman divisions and sectors to implement navigation solutions at a broader scale. What You'll get to Do:
Develop and maintain technical roadmaps for Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) solutions.
Shape the technical vision and strategic direction of the PNT organization.
Interface with customers to understand their needs and develop business opportunities.
Innovate and evaluate new technologies for military GPS, Navigation Warfare, and related systems.
Collaborate with cross-divisional teams to implement navigation solutions at a broader scale.
Lead technical assessments and reviews to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Mentor and guide engineering teams in the development of PNT solutions.
Engage with stakeholders to communicate project status, vision, and strategic initiatives.
Foster innovation and gather input on technical strategies.
Monitor industry trends and advancements to inform technology development and investment.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors of Sciences in a STEM discipline and a minimum of 16 years of prior minimum experience, OR a Masters of Science in a STEM discipline and a minimum of 14 years of prior relevant experience OR a PhD and 12 years of prior relevant experience
Demonstrated experience leading a technical program.
Expertise and working experience in one or more of the following technical areas:
GNSS / Satellite Navigation systems
Precision inertial navigation sensors used for navigation and pointing applications
Precision timing and distributed timing systems
Experience in technology roadmap development.
Knowledge in cross-discipline technical domains: Mechanical, Electrical and Systems Engineering.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance in a timeframe set forth by management.
US Citizenship
Ability to work full-time onsite in Woodland Hills, CA
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. in STEM discipline and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience.
Active DoD Secret Clearance
Prior experience working in low TRL technologies.
Track record of innovation through invention and patents.
Demonstrated success in the shaping and acquisition of business with a demonstrated track record for successful program award.
Working knowledge of RF systems used for GNSS receivers.
Experience in navigation warfare and protection techniques such as anti-jamming and anti-spoofing algorithms.
Knowledgeable in Software Defined Receivers used for navigation.
A working understanding in one more specific inertial sensor technology area:
MEMS Based Gyroscopes and accelerometers
Fiber Optic Gyroscopes
Coriolis Vibratory Gyroscopes
Quantum Sensors
Primary Level Salary Range: $206,900.00 - $310,300.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
