This position will support our Remote Sensing Program Business Unit, located in Linthicum, Maryland.
The Commodity Engineer is responsible for supply-based management for our production space program for the electrical and mechanical hardware. This high visibility position requires a motivated, self-starter with an engineering and component background with excellent interpersonal skills to respond to program customer product needs and concerns.

The ideal candidate will require extensive technical understanding of following:
Printed Wiring Boards (PWBs), connectors, cables, tiles, manifolds, backplanes, Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (MMICs/ASICs), panels, and mechanical assemblies. Candidate will be expected to work effectively with Program Management Office (PMO), Global Supply Chain, External Program Suppliers, Integrated Product Team, Operations Program Management, Manufacturing, Hardware and Component Engineering, and other organizations to resolve supplier technical topics in support of supply chain and production strategy and execution. Candidate is expected to have the ability to work both independently and within a team demonstrating the ability to multi-task and communicate effectively with varying levels of program customers and functional organization leadership. Travel required to key suppliers on a regular basis.
Responsibilities included and are not limited to:
Key member of team for production program supply chain strategy planning and execution Active member of supplier sourcing and level loading strategy Responsible for Voice of the Supplier communications and needs to internal program and engineering team Active lead in supplier production readiness reviews including supplier capability and capacity studies Perform producibility reviews and studies with supply base Coordinates technical reviews with IPTs and suppliers Performs technical evaluations of drawings and design packages prior to purchase order release and works with engineers and suppliers to ensure design and supplier readiness Lead internal processes associated with program part & product selection, qualification and approval
This position can be filled at the Associate (level 1) or Commodity Engineer (level 2)
Basic Qualifications:
Associate level must have Bachelor's degree in a STEM with +0 years of experience
Commodity Engineer (Level 2) must have Bachelor's degree in STEM with +2 years of experience; Master's +2 years of exp,
Experience in an Engineering, and/or Supply Chain role(s), demonstrated experience with formulating technical solutions to electronic parts, engineering challenges
Demonstrated experience with interpretation of engineering specifications, schematics and/or drawings into supply base and/or manufacturing processes
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Active TS/SCI clearance
Electrical & Mechanical Component/Commodity Engineering experience
Experience with manufacturing techniques for printed wiring boards, connectors, cables, tiles, manifolds, backplanes, MMICs/ASICs, panels, and mechanical assemblies
Project management experience Knowledge of ISO 9001/AS9100 requirements
Specialty metals compliance, electronic parts compliance, and space traceability requirements
Primary Level Salary Range: $64,200.00 - $96,400.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $77,600.00 - $116,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
