Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in Sunnyvale, CA, is seeking a Level 5 Advanced Launcher Project Lead for the Marine Systems Business Unit. The responsibilities of the successful candidate will include:
What you'll get to do:
Leads mid-year development of the next years launcher IRAD projects with support from PMO, program SMEs, and business development
Oversees technical execution of multiple launcher IRAD projects with combined budgets up to $1M+
Tracks launcher IRAD budgets using EVMS methods
Works closely with project leads whose projects require company-external monetary commitments (intra-sector, POs) to ensure the deliverable is correct and payment is prompt.
Works with Principal Investigators (PIs) to identify staffing or critical skill needs within individual projects
Tracks the overall Advanced Launcher Development group staffing and demand. Identifies and communicates gaps to resource management
Interfaces with managers throughout the company to commit team-external staff onto IRAD projects.
Negotiates commitment lengths for team-external staff to support IRAD projects, and then tracks those commitments.
Leads or supports IRAD project status meetings up to the VP level. Develops all applicable content.
Interfaces with the program management office (PMO) to receive and then execute technical direction
Interfaces with resource management to communicate staffing or critical skill needs
Develops launcher IRAD processes to support transparency and efficiency
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline with 12 years relevant experience; or Master's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline with 10 years of relevant work experience; or a PhD in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline with 7 years relevant experience
U.S Citizenship required
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
Ability to work onsite at Sunnyvale, CA for a minimum of 4 days per week
Demonstrated success leading technical teams.
Experience with proposals and Earned Value Management
Solid understanding of engineering process with execution experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or related technical fields.
Experience with creating and executing a technology development strategy aligned to business objectives
Mechanical Design Engineering background
Experience managing control accounts with accountability for scope, schedule, budget, and technical performance.
Digital engineering experience, especially Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
Salary Range: $171,000.00 - $256,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
