WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

As a Senior Virtual Material Designer, you will be working within the Digital Product Creation Organization, focusing on 3D material design co-creation and elevated product rendering for footwear. You will be working collaboratively with other teams from concept to product visualization to ignite innovation, accelerate design decision making and obsess storytelling - creating innovative 3D materials and impactful visuals to help drive the future of Sport. This role reports directly to the Senior Manager of Virtual Materials Design.

Ideally, you are a design-oriented creative with strong aesthetic sensibility and outstanding technical skills, are highly self-motivated with a solution-oriented approach, capable of producing high-quality work on very fast deadlines. You combine your non-destructive 3D material authoring, product lighting and rendering expertise, with strong problem-solving and natural curiosity to help create the future of Nike Footwear Materials.

Nike's Virtual Material Design team creates complex parametric materials using various tools including Substance Designer and Substance suite, is exceptional at authoring PBR materials and expressive high-end product lighting for both real time and offline renderers.

Candidate must have experience in a fast-paced creative environment and be comfortable with ambiguity and enjoy connecting the dots. The ideal teammate will be a highly creative problem solver, a curious collaborator who balances multiple high stakes projects. Someone excited to thrive as part of a fun dynamic team who understands the value of sharing information and constantly learning from those around you to build skills.

• Bachelor's degree in Digital Design, Industrial Design, Architecture, Animation, related field, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, or training.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field

• Highly proficient in non-destructive 3D material authoring using Substance Designer and familiarity in creating parametric materials using Substance Suite.

• Highly proficient at high end look development and rendering, (Maya/Vray preferred).

• Extensive portfolio demonstrating the ability to create and present high quality 3D material assets - must include examples of substance designer node graphs, material close-ups and product renders.

• Catalyst to make connections with other Design groups. Collaborate with project teams Cross-Engine to achieve milestones and objectives.

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

Is that you? If so, you will work on a variety of projects, initiatives and product creation moments across segments of Nike sports and lifestyle. The daily responsibilities of this role are wide-ranging, ambitious, and exciting. You will create and present assets that help accelerate decision making and showcase design intent to a variety of audiences. Your work will focus on current priority initiatives for inline work but can span across multiple partners concurrently. Additionally, you will provide digital expertise and support to Design, Development, Engineering, and Innovation teams. You will partner with Designers to bring to life seasonal product creation visuals. You will push the bounds of innovation and technology within the 3D industry. Your goal is to aim for product design excellence by partnering with key stakeholders cross-functionally in the creations process and help bring the vision for the future of Nike!
