WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Nike Japan is hiring for a Manager, Revenue Accounting who will be part of the Japan Revenue Accounting team to ensure complete, accurate and timely financial reporting and maintain an effective internal control environment.

WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON?

You will ensure timely and accurate month-end closing and will drive continuous improvements in the efficiency and effectiveness of the revenue accounting and financial reporting processes. This will also involve working closely with our Managed Service Provider for revenue accounting transactions.

You will work as part of a dedicated team, to ensure key financial assertions are met with respect to revenue accounting through development / maintenance of a comprehensive control structure across the transaction streams, understanding the processes that ultimately result in the revenue related accounts. This will enable you to lead and manage internal control over financial reporting related to revenue accounting, judgmental reserve of sales related and covers revenue recognition for Wholesale, Retail and Digital business.

You will be involved in new business model like third party digital platform, new business scheme for wholesale and retail business, including franchise type of business model to cover revenue accounting.

You will develop high profile, influential and collaborative relationships across teams, functions and layers of the business while demonstrating mastery of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), particularly around revenue accounting.

WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH?

This role directly reports to Financial Controller of Japan and will manage one direct report: Senior Accountant of Revenue Accounting. In addition to working closely with the Japan Finance team, you will also work closely with our broader Nike Japan team, especially with the Nike Partner team (Wholesale) and the Nike Direct team (Stores and Digital). Effective and timely communication between Nike Japan, Asia Pacific Latin America (APLA) geography teams and business partners are a critical piece to this role, and this will give you a great opportunity to learn our end to end business process with broader business key stakeholders. You will also interact with various service providers who we partner with in driving various initiatives or audits.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, strongly preferred with Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent professional qualification.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience with public accounting firms and/or multi-national companies desired, with preferable experience in revenue accounting.
  • People Management Experience and Ability to exercise a high degree of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP, local GAAP including strong technical foundation of accounting, especially for Revenue Accounting and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) required.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and enabling tool solutions (e.g. Blackline, Business Warehouse) would be an added advantage.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into operationalization with considerations for financial risks and controls across end-to-end processes.
  • Good communication and influencing skills on complex accounting requirements both in English and Japanese.
  • Proven track record of working independently, leading, and prioritizing against multiple priorities, while delivering results with high quality.
