Summer Associate Internship (Business Systems Analyst)
Overview
The Summer Associate will join the Technology, Innovation, Experience and Strategy (TIES) Technology Solutions Team which drives innovation through effective project management, robust implementation of technology solutions, and strategic systems management in partnership with technology teams and business partners. The team is committed to delivering innovative technology solutions, optimizing processes, and empowering informed decision-making to support the strategic goals and success of the organization.
The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) position is responsible for coordinating and conducting basic system analyses through data acquisition and modeling. Identifies, coordinates, documents, and implements business requirements by determining solutions that enhance business systems, as well as providing support to business operations and processes under close supervision. To analyze business needs to develop and implement solutions that leverage systems and processes with limited latitude. Work with the business to understand their needs, related to information technology and enhance business process by promoting new functionality. Using basic knowledge of technology and specific software applications, assist the business to implement strategic vision through technology.
The Summer Associate will collaborate with team members and gain experience in the following:
- Assist/take the lead on a workstream for the SMD System, Application and Service Mapping initiative within (includes stakeholders from InfoSec, Enterprise: OBB - Operational Building Blocks, etc.)
- Identify and document data fields and configurations passed from between systems and applications
- Assist with completing the data dictionary for SMD
- Identify opportunities to improve ability to handle data requests
- Identify opportunities to improve data quality and/or integrity
- Assist in creating measurement plan templates for new systems/applications
The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2026 and ending in August 2026. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2026 or later.

Responsibilities
- Evaluate operational efficiency and effectiveness
- Assist junior and senior analysts with creating solutions
- Perform research and analysis
- Develop and maintain solution documentation
- Become familiar with Navy Federal Credit Union systems
- Collaborate with teammates across the enterprise
- Work with project teams to plan, coordinate and rollout software change/release to Controlled Testing and Production, obtain required approvals as scheduled, and transition project to Production
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, or other related degree
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Exposure to the application of statistical methods, mathematical techniques, forecasting, cost-benefit analysis and related analytical tools
- Familiarity with data querying, reporting, forecasting, analysis and operations research, including statistical methods and modeling
- Exposure to SQL and VBA database languages
- Basic research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Effective organizational, planning and time management skills
- Effective skill following, interpreting and applying relevant data/instructions to guidelines, procedures, practices and regulations
- Effective word processing and spreadsheet software skills
Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 4:30PM
