Overview

Navy Federal Credit Union is seeking a cybersecurity engineer to serve customers as a technical interface and subject matter expert for the Navy Federal to support Micro-segmentation. Lead and collaborate with engineers, internal teams, and vendors to support all phases of product integration, operations, and maintenance to ensure a secure Navy Federal environment. Lead troubleshooting efforts of technical issues identified through system monitoring and/or escalated from the Cybersecurity Operations Center (CSOC). Execute highly visible tasks or lead small projects with executive management level visibility. Work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy microsegmentation on Linux servers, AIX, Windows Servers, and Kubernetes
  • Serve as the SME for micro-segmentation
  • Lead information security engineering support for multiple detection and alert tools
  • Design, develop, and implement leading-edge analytical and technical solutions with a full understanding of cross-organizational impacts
  • Recognized as a thought leader for the organization related to cyber threat trends, providing a broad perspective to address potential threats and vulnerabilities
  • Collaborate with threat vulnerability management and risk management teams to lead global information security program objectives
  • Collaborate with all internal security teams and vendors to lead the implementation of security controls that will protect the Navy Federal brand from confirmed or potential security breaches
  • Collaborate with internal security teams, other business units and external partners in technical response efforts for security incidents
  • Manage reported system application vulnerabilities through remediation and maintenance in adherence with the enterprise Change Management Policy and Incident Response Procedures
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to staff in support of the systems engineering lifecycle
  • Conduct specific cyber security initiatives relating to architectural design, tool integration and development of product suites
  • Identify new tools and/or required upgrades based on Return on Investment and perform Proof of Concept
  • Develop and maintain internal documentation, such as detailed procedures and project schedule and status related to the engineering function
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge of cyber security/information security engineering
  • Significant experience managing complex full life-cycle projects and teams
  • Extensive experience in system administration, database administration, network engineering, software engineering, or software development, with a concentration in Cyber Security
  • Extensive experience leading collaborative work teams
  • Significant hands-on experience and knowledge of IT operations and change management.
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of security operations and cyber-attack methods
  • Advanced knowledge of enterprise information security architecture
  • Working knowledge of security assessment processes
  • Expert skill to influence, to negotiate & persuade to reach agreeable exchanges & positive outcomes
  • Advanced skills in working with all levels of management, supervisors, stakeholders and vendors
  • Advanced skills in leading, guiding and coaching professional staff
  • Advanced organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Expert skill exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions
  • Advanced database and presentation software skills
  • Effective skill in demonstrating Integrity and high standards of personal and professional conduct
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or the equivalent combination of education, training or experience
  • Experience with Windows server/Linux/AIX operating systems
  • Knowledge of the Zero Trust Framework
  • Experience managing micro-segmentation policies
  • Strong background in analyzing network activity logs to tune security policies

Desired Qualifications

  • Extensive experience with multiple cyber security detection/technologies/tools
  • Extensive experience working with a variety of cyber architectures
  • Knowledge of Navy Federal operations, products, policies and procedures
  • CISSP, CISA, GIAC, CCNA or other related Information Security certifications
  • Advanced degree in Information Technology, or the equivalent combination of education, training or experience
  • Experience in deploying Illumio Micro-Segmentation Product Suite
