As a Transfer & Acquisitions Consultant, you'll be a transfers and acquisitions authority for Personal Lines (PL). You'll lead the transfer process and support mergers and acquisitions while driving agency performance. In addition, you'll develop positive relationships and identify new opportunities.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assists with the identification of new transfer opportunities and manages potential transfer deals. Sets expectations for expected results and manages to the commitments. Participates in final review and sign-off (for all partners involved). Participates in final discussions and reviews and approves deals prior to close. Partners with agency/organization leaders.

  • Provides leadership of signed/committed deals. Leads the transfer process, acting as a subject matter authority and primary point of contact for the deal (“face” of the transfer). Schedules and hosts kickoff meetings, leading effort to work out details, partnering with the Sales and Mergers & Acquisition teams as appropriate. Drives transfer/acquisition results (e.g., hit ratio, pipeline, issued quotes, conversion). Advocates for agency, using single contact in Underwriting. Assists with self-key transfers as needed with existing agency transfers.

  • Supports Mergers & Acquisition and Nationwide National Partners consolidation, based on the needs of each specific deal. Actively involved in future acquisitions to ensure retaining as much business as possible. Partners with Business Development Consultant on agencies with books not appointed as needed.

  • Manages projects to achieve desired business outcomes. Develops timelines; collaborates with key partners (Coordinator, Product, Agency, etc.) to meet timing objectives; creates and implements communication plans; conducts agency capacity analysis to effectively manage volume; evaluates agency training needs and coordinates through the Sales training organization. Works closely with the quoting team to manage policy shipments and quote service level agreements.

  • Drives transfer results by setting expectations on critical delivery factors such as Auto Issue utilization, follows up on missed opportunities, adjusting coverages, and adding discounts to drive competitiveness. Provides timely evaluation of results and action planning to address transfer barriers.

  • Cultivates and maintains positive existing relationships. Identifies additional carrier opportunities. Drives new business through partnerships and availability.

  • Collaborates closely with Business Development Consultants, sales leaders, transfer support team, and underwriting partners.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to AVP/Director; individual contributor role.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate studies in general business, insurance, sales, marketing or related fields. Graduate degree preferred.

License/Certification/Designation: CPCU, CLU, CHFP or equivalent insurance designation preferred.

Experience: Eight years of sales or sales management experience. Prior property casualty or financial services experience desirable.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Solid understanding of agency operations, sales program implementation and training concepts involving products, rules and rating plans. Strong understanding of business concepts, including financial pro forma, operating plans, goal-setting, sales and marketing techniques. Good understanding of Nationwide processes, products, fiduciary responsibility and compliance requirements. Solid understanding of commercial lines small and middle market business.

Key abilities include: functional technical skills, business acuity, managerial courage, political savvy, resolution skills, advising others, hiring and staffing, motivating others, customer service oriented, organizational agility, interpersonal savvy, eagerness for results, planning, organizing, priority setting, presentation skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills necessary to interact with all levels of internal and external contacts.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, proficiencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and Human Resources Business Partner.

Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Occasional travel within assigned district. A valid driver's license and safe driving record are required.
