This role is a compensation grade F3.

Job Description Summary

Summary of Job Responsibilities: Conducts research and provides input towards the development, revision and interpretation of underwriting policies, standards and practices for the selection, evaluation and pricing of life insurance products. Assists in the development and presentation of related training programs for line underwriting operations. Leads special staff projects. Minimum six years of life underwriting experience, including at least four years as life technical expert. Bachelor's degree and pursuit of technical studies such as FALU, CLU, FLMI knowledge strongly preferred. 2. Requires a strong underwriting technical background. Cross-functional experience in related areas such as state compliance, vendor management, reinsurance, systems and project management. 3. Requires the following core competencies: action oriented, creativity, decision quality, functional technical skills, timely decision making, planning, technical learning, time management, intellectual horsepower, dealing with ambiguity and customer focus. 4. Conducts underwriting performance audits line operations; participates in the preparation or remedial action programs as required. 5. Develops and analyzes market information relative to market potential, product levels, loss expense and profitability of market segments. Assesses specific insurance coverage and underwriting problems represented by various types of coverage. Participates in the development or refinement of specific risk standards. 6. Participates in the development and refinement of new and/or enhanced products and establishment of acceptance standards and pricing policy to line operations. Provides input to Pricing for product changes and state filings. 7. Participates in the development, implementation, maintenance and refinement of techniques, methods and/or procedures, which can be utilized to train case underwriters. Presents training to field underwriting personnel as assigned. 8. Provides counsel and assistance to line operations in the interpretations of underwriting policy, rules, and standards in accordance with criteria established by reinsurance partners, insurance departments, underwriting procedures or legislation activity. 9. Participates on task teams and functional audits. 10. Performs other duties as assigned.
