As a Product Specialist, you'll help with initiation, development and maintenance of products with respect to design, profitability and growth. We'll count on you to gather information and make recommendations on pricing and design features, underwriting, agency management, product distribution and/or claims procedures and standards.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists with development and maintenance of products, from beginning to end, with shared responsibility for the products managed from both a growth and profitability perspective.

  • Analyzes pricing and design features, underwriting, agency management, product distribution and/or claims procedures and standards. Finds opportunities for improvement and makes recommendations to management.

  • Assists in providing support related to the design and management of the product.

  • Utilizes market information to analyze trends and to make recommendation for improvement of products.

  • Researches new tools and technology to improve product performance.

  • Assists in identifying business opportunities. Analyzes financial and statistical data/models to provide recommendations for improvement.

  • May assists on special project teams.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Manager or Director.

Typical Skills and Experiences:


Education: Undergraduate degree preferred. 

License/Certification/Designation: Insurance licenses or industry designations (i.e. CPCU, ARM, CLU, FLMI, ChFC, CFP, NASD, etc.) may be preferred. 

Experience: Three years of insurance, financial services, marketing, communications or related experience.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Demonstrated responsible decision making. Skilled in the use of analytic tools. Ability to drive for results, deal with ambiguity, communicate well and to understand strategic goals. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Exposure to research, analysis and development, and standards and practices for the selection, evaluation and pricing of product line's risks.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.

Job Conditions:


Overtime Eligibility: Not eligible (Exempt)

Working conditions: Normal office environment. Extended work hours may be required based on workload. May require occasional travel.
