Consultant - Data Governance Advisor

Experience in the following areas is preferred:

  • Building Data Quality rules and scorecards
  • Assisting with data quality remediation
  • Understanding of data governance and data quality framework
  • Assisting with root cause analysis
  • Communicates upstream and downstream impact to the business
  • Knowledge on working with Data Quality tools like Informatica and Collibra.
  • Ability to lead data quality projects and work with teams outside of the EDO.

As a Data Governance Advisor, you’ll ensure the quality, reliability, security, efficiency, and accuracy of data through the data lifecycle to enable effective reporting and analytics for better and faster decision-making. You’ll ensure adherence to data governance policy, standards and processes including taxonomy, data quality, efficiencies, and usage. Successful candidates have a passion for improving integrity and usability of data assets, resolving data quality issues, creating data definitions, driving consistency in sourcing data and defining critical data elements and collaborating with influencing others to consistently implement data governance policies, process, and standards.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Provides expert technical support to implement the Enterprise Data Governance policy, vision, strategy, tactical plans and service offerings for their assigned Auditable Business Unit(s).

  • Improves data accuracy, validity, reliability, timeliness, relevance, completeness, and compliance.

  • Supports development of standards to identify critical data issues and ensure data policy enforcement and compliance.

  • Partners with experts to identify and mitigate risk by performing data risk assessments and developing recommendations to resolve the issues.

  • Contributes to the enterprise or Auditable Business Unit(s) data governance communication and change plans.

  • Implements the information management lifecycle within their assigned Auditable Business Unit(s).

  • Provides technical support and/or consultation on the Enterprise Data Governance applications.

  • Executes metadata management initiatives, including technical data lineage, data quality and profile development.​

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Manager/Director Data Leader.

Typical Skills and Experiences: 

Education:  Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, business, statistics, math, a related field or comparable experience and education strongly preferred.  Graduate studies in business, statistics, math, computer science or a related field are a plus.

License/Certification/Designation:  Certifications are not required but encouraged.

Experience:  Eight years of relevant experience with data centric, data governance, data management standards or practices. Experience in use and interpretation of metrics and solution scoping. Experience in analytically intense, data-intense or data integration project preferred. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:  Data application and practices knowledge. Ability to read a data model and reference data architecture.  Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to build relationships, facilitate meetings and influence others.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.
