Seasonal Membership Ambassador

Job Summary

The Membership Ambassador sales team is responsible for generating onsite membership sales on the National Aquarium's campus. This frontline position will also assist all Aquarium guests on Pier 3 in a friendly and positive manner, providing an exceptional guest experience through Personally Facilitated Experiences (PFEs).

Membership Ambassadors report to the Membership Sales Manager. This seasonal position is part time (< 30 hours per week) and operates outdoors, primarily between May and September.

Essential Functions

  • Engage with National Aquarium guests to successfully solicit and close membership sales that meet or exceed predetermined sales goals.
  • Command a working knowledge of all membership training materials, Aquarium policies and sales talking points.
  • Maintain accurate and complete sales records during assigned shifts, monitor inventory levels and report needs to shift supervisor or Membership Sales Manager.
  • Must be organized, self-motivated and service-oriented with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ensure the Membership Cart and all sales and promotional materials are set up and broken down before and after each shift.
  • Provide an exceptional guest experience for all Aquarium visitors through personally facilitated experiences (PFEs). Be familiar with the Aquarium's mission, accomplishments and future goals.
  • Project a professional and approachable image at all times.

Qualifications

  • A service-oriented individual with exceptional interpersonal skills willing to engage with Aquarium guests from a variety of diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work a minimum of (15) shift hours per week or more from Memorial Day Weekend through September, including weekends and one or more major holidays including Memorial Day, Father's Day, 4th of July and Labor Day.
  • Successfully complete all Membership Pier Sales training workshops, master training materials and demonstrate an ability to clearly articulate the benefits, value and impact of National Aquarium membership.
  • Ability to work outdoors in the summer months and stand and/or walk continuously for 3-4 hours.
  • Command basic math competencies and organizational skills with the ability to keep complete and accurate sales records.
  • Must have a reliable form of transportation.
  • Previous retail/sales experience preferred. Bilingual candidates a plus.

COMPENSATION

Starting rate of $16 per hour, plus commission on all membership sales.
