Laboratory Associate 1

POSITION SUMMARY

The Laboratory Associate 1 supports R&D labs by ordering, receiving, and storing reagents and materials. Maintains upkeep of laboratory consumables and reagents inventory. Fulfills various requests by research staff related to laboratory workflows and anticipate laboratory needs.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform routine housekeeping to ensure the laboratory area is neat, clean, and organized
  • Order, receive, and store supplies, reagents and materials and verify receipt of items ordered
  • Prepare, aliquot and/or stock reagents
  • Ensure laboratory follows environmental, health and safety (EHS) and good laboratory practices (GLP) guidelines
  • Monitor satellite waste streams. Laboratory waste streams include biohazardous materials and hazardous chemical waste. Dispose of waste in accordance with EHS guidelines
  • Perform other tasks as specified by the supervisor/manager

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in life-science or related field preferred.
  • 1 year of experience working in a laboratory environment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Works well in a team while being a self-starter.
  • Maintains a positive attitude.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel and Word.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Able to lift 40 lbs. occasionally.
  • Duties may require working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends) at times.
