Director, HR Business Partner

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Director, HR Business Partner is a strategic position partnering with Executive Teams to develop the people strategies and organizational capabilities that will drive innovation and help the leaders achieve their goals. The role is critical in executing our people initiatives, providing great internal customer support, and driving HR functional excellence and process improvement. The position will also work in partnership with the HR COEs to help in achieving the business objectives of changing the way that disease is managed.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as a primary point of contact for the employees and managers in San Carlos, CA and Austin, Texas office.
  • Support Executive Leaderships
  • Provide a hands-on HR support as well successfully monitor the "pulse" of the employees to ensure a high level of employee engagement.
  • Provide guidance and support to the leadership and management teams in the area of compensation, benefits, and team development.
  • Partner, support and lead in developing and delivering HR strategies and programs, including employee engagement, onboarding, off-boarding, talent development, compensation, benefits, performance management and training.
  • Actively identify gaps, propose and implement changes necessary to cover risks.
  • Build a strong business relationship with the internal and external clients.
  • Provide guidance and input on workforce planning, succession planning, and other talent development and retention activities.
  • Manage and resolve employee relations issues. This role will have up to 25% of its time dedicated to employee relations.
  • Partner with leaders to drive a high performing culture.
  • Work with hiring managers and recruiting partner to proactively bring top talent into the organization. Participate in interviews as appropriate.
  • Assess employee development needs, make recommendations, and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Provide appropriate coaching and development feedback to managers and employees.
  • Assist in rolling out corporate-wide HR initiatives.
  • Analyze trends and metrics, and collaborate with HR functional experts to develop solutions, make recommendations, and develop programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Education, Business or equivalent.
  • 12 + years of experience as an HR Business Partner in a bio or high-tech environment.
  • Business Partner Expereince supporting Executive Leadership

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal employment laws and standards.
  • Experience working with both exempt & nonexempt employees.
  • Able to manage multiple projects with overlapping tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong leadership skills, self-motivated, adaptable to a dynamic and fast paced environment.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and data management skills with the ability to translate data into action planning.
  • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills and be able to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Proactive, self-directed, strategic and highly motivated with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience working with leaders at all levels of the organization.
  • Coaching and ability to influence leaders.
  • Ability to use innovative and creative approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to create and foster business relationships with leaders and employees.
  • High level of initiative and quickly resolve problems.
  • Solid organizational skills, including the ability to accomplish demanding timeline objectives, multi-task on assignments.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position primarily works in an office environment. It requires frequent sitting, standing and walking. Daily use of a computer is required. May stand for extended periods when facilitating meetings or walking in the facilities.
