POSITION SUMMARY:

The Data Analyst 2 takes primary ownership of the Operations Team's metrics and quality monitoring using metrics based on both advanced molecular biology and cutting-edge statistical algorithms.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with designing and building analytics reporting using business intelligence tools and database;
  • Support Operations with data and metrics for operational performance monitoring and investigations;
  • Perform statistical analysis on production data sets to discover trends and develop business insights;
  • Develop metrics for measuring and understanding laboratory operations efficiency and effectiveness;
  • Investigate data quality concerns using a variety of tools such as SQL, Excel, or similar;
  • Coordinate new feature requests that may stem from the investigations;
  • Interface with other groups within the company, especially statistics and software engineering;
  • This role works with PHI on a regular basis both in paper and electronic form and have an access to various technologies to access PHI (paper and electronic) in order to perform the job;
  • Employee must complete training relating to HIPAA/PHI privacy, General Policies and Procedure Compliance training and security training as soon as possible but not later than the first 30 days of hire;
  • Must maintain a current status on Natera training requirements;

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics, Business Analytics, or equivalent; MSc preferred;
  • 3+ years of overall data centric experience preferred; preferably in business data analysis;
  • Some laboratory or molecular biology experience is preferred;
  • Experience with reporting packages (such as QlikView, Tableau, Business Objects etc.) is a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database query, data segmentation techniques;
  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings;
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (e.g. Excel);
  • Excellent organizational, communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong knowledge of databases (SQL etc.) Basic understanding on ETL frameworks;
  • SQL programming;
  • Basic understanding with business intelligence tools;
  • Microsoft Office / Google Docs and Windows workstation;
  • Instant message tools (e.g. Slack, Google Hangouts).
