Position Summary:

The GCIB Operational Risk Vice President supports the Business Unit Risk and Control (BURCO) team within the "first line of defense," responsible for application of the enterprise's operational risk management framework for the Global Corporate & Investment Banking (GCIB) business. Reporting to the Business Unit Risk Manager (BURM), the GCIB Operational Risk VP will lead a team responsible for satisfying the control testing requirements of the Bank's operational risk management framework.

Major Responsibilities:

The GCIB Operational Risk Manager will:

  • Lead and manage team responsible for testing operational controls as part of both business-as-usual and issue remediation
  • Develop, implement, and manage quarterly control testing plans
  • Create control testing scripts
  • Review and document control testing results
  • Identify, escalate, and advise on remediation of control gaps discovered during testing.


  • As part of GCIB's Operational Risk Management team, this position requires a general knowledge of and sensitivity to the current regulatory environment; understanding and adherence to the Bank's Risk Vision; knowledge and application of operational risk management policies, programs, and techniques; and the ability to recognize and proactively address risk.
  • Specific experience in one of GCIB's core disciplines is highly desirable, preferably within the associated areas of operations, risk management, regulatory environment, or accounting systems.
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience in finance, business, or another relevant discipline
  • Minimum 4-8 years of relevant experience performing operational risk analysis and control testing.
  • Ability to use analytical, evaluative and/or critical thinking skills to assess risks and controls in banking operations processes
  • Ability to assimilate, evaluate and articulate business impact when control exceptions are identified
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with mid and senior-levels of management
  • Ability to prioritize assignments to meet critical deadlines
  • Ability to work with a moderate level of guidance;
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment

The typical base pay range for this role is between $115K - $150K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
