Your team responsibilities

We are searching for an experienced PostgreSQL engineer to enhance and manage our database systems. This role is pivotal in optimizing and maintaining our PostgreSQL databases, which are integral to our data management and analytics capabilities. The ideal candidate should be deeply knowledgeable in PostgreSQL, with a strong commitment to Test-Driven Development and a desire to join a collaborative team focused on delivering incremental customer value.

• Database Optimization and Management: Develop, optimize, and maintain PostgreSQL databases to ensure high performance, security, and scalability.
• Query Optimization: Write and optimize complex SQL queries for maximum efficiency and reliability, ensuring quick and accurate data retrieval.
• Collaborative Development: Engage in pair programming with other DBAs and Full Stack Engineers, fostering a shared understanding of the application and accelerating the development of robust data solutions.
• Continuous Enhancement: Apply Test-Driven Development approaches to database design and management, including incorporating extensive testing and making incremental modifications to the database.

• Deep Understanding of Postgres Internals, Query Planning/Execution, and MVCC: In-depth knowledge of current PostgreSQL architecture, including concurrency control, transaction management, and system catalogs.
• Writing Database Tests in TypeScript : Proficient in TypeScript for test-driven development, with experience in database testing frameworks and methodologies.
• PostgreSQL Performance: Advanced skills in SQL for query optimization, performance tuning, and writing efficient stored procedures.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL Extensions: Experience in implementing and managing PostgreSQL extensions like AutoExplain and pg_stat_statements for enhanced database functionality.
• Developing and Deploying PostgreSQL via Changesets in CI/CD Pipelines: Skilled in database version control using Liquibase and integrating database deployments into CI/CD pipelines.
• History of Successful Zero Downtime PostgreSQL Migrations: Proven expertise in planning and executing large-scale, zero downtime PostgreSQL migrations.
• Experience Designing, Partitioning, and Sharding within PostgreSQL Systems: Knowledge in database scalability through partitioning and sharding strategies, managing complex PostgreSQL systems.
• Implementing Scalable Solutions for Rapid Data Growth: Expertise in designing scalable database architectures, focusing on high-availability and disaster recovery solutions.
• Row-Level Security Policies: Knowledgeable in implementing performant row-level security in PostgreSQL for data protection and compliance adherence.
• Understanding of PostgreSQL Configuration Options and Performance Tuning: Expertise in PostgreSQL configuration and performance tuning for optimal database performance and reliability.
• Designing RBAC for User Permissions and Access Control: Experienced in implementing Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) in PostgreSQL for application users.
