Real Assets Product Specialist

Your team responsibilities

MSCI is seeking an outstanding associate to join our Real Estate Product Management team. As a key member of this team, you will work closely with the global product management team to develop, maintain, and enhance decision making processes and management information critical to developing the group's strategy, product development plans and sales/negotiation strategy. You will learn extensively about global markets, private assets, and key business management & strategic planning processes.

In this role, you will work on a broad range of short and long-term product initiatives across MSCI's Real Estate products. You will work on multiple ongoing and future initiatives throughout the full lifecycle of the product. From ideation you will identify opportunities for new products and enhancements. While developing the product vision and strategy you will help define initiative requirements and work with business leaders to define the product roadmap. As we approach product launches, you will work with marketing and coverage to finalize the go to market strategy. After launch, we continually assess product usage across products and customer segments.

The candidate is expected to be detail oriented, a critical thinker and capable of performing multi-task assignments in a timely and independent fashion to a high degree of quality. Numeracy and proficiency in working with a variety of data sets, databases and developing management information reports (particularly Microsoft Office tools) is key, as is the ability to present information to a variety of audiences. The candidate will have strong communication and influencing skills as they will be required to engage with a variety of business functions and seniority levels, including Marketing, Finance, Client Coverage, Client Services, Program Management and Engineering. A keen interest in global financial markets and the investment management process is highly desirable, with a preference to candidates with commercial real estate investment process or analytics experience.

Your key responsibilities

You will be part of a dynamic team building the next generation of Real Assets products at MSCI. You will work across the Real Assets product suite comprising market leading and globally renowned market data and portfolio products. You will contribute to decision making and strategy execution across the Real Assets Product Management function, go to market planning, and improve client impact of the business line. The Real Estate product line is in a strong growth phase and this role will play a significant role in helping the Product Management team scale up and improve its effectiveness and efficiency.

You will be exposed daily to a range of topics in the following areas:

• Support the development of business case proposals for new product initiatives, including business & functional requirements

• Gather and assimilate client feedback into coherent product development recommendations to support business growth

• Perform wide reaching industry, client, and competitor analysis

• Designing pricing models and support sales campaign planning and execution

• Work with Program Management, Marketing, and Coverage to assist coordination of go to market planning and execution including subject matter expertise for the development of product support collateral and client facing documentation

• Collaborate with Coverage, Program Management, Technology and Data Services to assess & maintain prioritization of product development requirements

• Analyze product usage statistics and reporting to develop insights into client behaviors, needs, product opportunities and risks

• Prepare reports or analysis for MSCI's senior management business reviews

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

• 3+ years in financial services, business analysis, or product management roles

• Experience in business/financial analysis, data analysis, process mapping and specification writing, and familiarity with the product management & development lifecycle

• Experience working with a variety of data sets and databases to define and refine product strategy and for developing and delivering management reporting

• Strong written and oral communications skills, attention to detail, results driven, and ability to influence others to drive through strategic imperatives

• Self-starter with excellent critical thinking & problem-solving skills

• Strong team player with a willingness to share duties & collaborate across the broader team

• Knowledge of finance including real estate investment, equity and fixed income, financial data, and financial topics and/or the interest to learn such topics is desired

• Strong Microsoft Office-based skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI

• Degree in Finance/Computer Science/Engineering/Math/Statistics preferred, MBA a plus
