Your team responsibilities
The MSCI Equity Factor Research Team is a global research group with a broad mandate to create new and innovative factors, risk models, signals, content, and analytics to be leveraged across MSCI index and analytics products and used by institutional investors worldwide. The team utilizes a variety of analytical tools and methods to conduct research, with the majority based on Python, Matlab, SQL and other MSCI products. The group works closely with other groups within research and across the firm (data, technology, product, sales) to implement the research agenda and benefit from the substantial resources and expertise available within the global MSCI organization.

Your key responsibilities
We are seeking an exceptional candidate with high energy and motivation to join our team. The successful applicant will play a crucial role in the AI Factor Research team, engaging in innovative research from initial concept through development, consultation, and into production implementation. The individual will become proficient in MSCI models, utilizing AI to enhance these models' content and devise new interaction methods. Proficiency in Python and scientific methodologies is essential, as the candidate will apply both traditional statistics and cutting-edge AI techniques in their research. They will frequently present and communicate their findings to the factor research team, key executives, the broader research organization, and across the organization to sales and product teams. Additionally, you will be encouraged to disseminate your research through MSCI blogs, white papers, and academic journals.
Your skills and experience that will help you excel
• Exceptional quantitative aptitude and critical thinking skills
• Strong knowledge of mathematics, linear algebra and statistics
• Excellent computer and statistical programming skills - Python required, experience with SQL and cloud services such as Azure and GCP desired
• Strong communication skills, verbal and written
• Experience extracting insights from large amounts of data
• Experience with large language models, machine learning algorithms and data science techniques are highly desirable
• Interest in and understanding of financial markets
• M.S. or advanced degree in Finance, Operations Research, Engineering, Science, Computer Science or other quantitative discipline
