Syndicate Operations - GCM Finalization Associate

Deal Management - The candidate will be expected to run point on sizable and complex transactions for the team and manage multiple aspects of the new issuance process from deal structuring through settlement. This role requires the Associate to ensure that the trade bookings are correctly reflected in the trading risk systems and tie out with the Counterparty. Risk Management: The role involves exposure and interaction with the firm's largest clients and transactions. The candidate must be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of risks associated with a transaction and the ability to have strong judgement around timely escalation. This role requires direct coordination with senior stakeholders in GCM BCU and the Syndicate Desk as the point of escalation for the team to ensure appropriate awareness and resolution. Ensure all functions and procedures are performed in a timely and correct manner, i.e. trade checkout, position reconciliation, wash account reconciliation. Strategic Initiatives: The candidate needs to demonstrate teamwork skills and partnership to help drive process improvements and technology initiatives including creation of use cases using power tools. This is a very important aspect of the role to support the business growth more effectively. Skills Required Control: As both Franchise and Operational risk is high, the role requires a high level of risk awareness and judgment to escalate all potential issues. An acute understanding for the need for guardianship is important at all times. Guardianship: The candidate will need to be able to take full responsibility for their deals and to demonstrate an ability to ensure that risk issues are highlighted and minimised at all times. Good organizational skills are important as there are daily tasks and deadlines and each transaction is different. It is down to the individual to manage their own workload and possess the motivation to organize all aspects of the deal they are responsible for. Due to time constraints and the ever-changing nature of deals, being able to work constructively under pressure efficiently is important. Attention to detail is key. People: Be an effective team player. The discussion and sharing of knowledge are an important part of the role. Job Skills: Good working knowledge of Equity settlements in the AP markets is required. For internal candidates a general understanding of the firm's booking systems and processes would also be beneficial. We will provide full training on the specifics of the Syndicate product. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are needed. The candidate must be articulate and be able to clearly explain complex processes and deal mechanics as the role involves dealing with those who may not be familiar with settlement processes. They should also be confident at chairing meetings with senior attendees and be able to challenge information and requirements if necessary. It is important to build and maintain both internal and external relationships as you often deal with the same people on different deals. Strong leadership and management skills are therefore necessary.
