Resilience Risk Manager, Vice President

The Firm Resilience team mission is to deliver robust programs across KBS Resilience, Business Continuity, and Disaster Recovery Planning and Testing. These programs enable the Firm to manage, document, and evidence its approach to mitigating risks associated with operational disruptions.

What you'll do in the role:
We are seeking a resilience subject matter expert to lead critical aspects of the Firm's operational resilience strategy, with accountability for resilience metrics and reporting, regulatory and audit engagement, and risk management initiatives. They will drive the development and analysis of resilience data to identify emerging risks, ensure timely stakeholder action, and manage responses to regulatory, client, and audit inquiries.

As a member of our team, you will be in a unique position to interact with people and teams globally across different technology divisions and functions, working on initiatives that have a direct impact on the operational stability of the Firm.

Resilience metrics and reporting

  • Lead the ongoing development and management of resilience metrics and reporting frameworks.
  • Analyze data to identify emerging risks and areas requiring escalation or risk decisioning.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders to ensure timely and effective remediation actions are tracked and delivered.


Regulatory, Client & Audit Engagement
  • Oversee the response and coordination of requests for information from regulators, clients, and internal/external audit functions.
  • Ensure responses are accurate, timely, and aligned with the Firm's resilience strategy and regulatory obligations.


Risk Management Initiative Leadership

Own and lead risk management activities for the Firm Resilience team, including:
  • Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA)
  • Key Control Validation
  • Control Assessment Management


Change & Transformation Initiatives
  • Lead strategic change programs, including audit and regulatory remediation initiatives.
  • Collaborate across functions to strengthen the Firm's overall resilience posture.


Leadership & Influence
  • Act as a senior advisor and thought leader on resilience matters across the Firm.
  • Build strong relationships with business units, technology, risk, and compliance teams.
  • Represent Firm Resilience in senior governance forums and external engagements.


What you'll bring to the role:
  • Domain knowledge: Proven experience in leading Operational Resilience, Business Continuity or Disaster Recovery teams or large initiatives within a financial institution is essential (5+ years in a resilience domain, 3+ years in financial services).
  • Regulatory Understanding: Demonstrable evidence of ensuring compliance with regulatory standards (e.g. DORA) in the financial/technology sector from a resilience perspective.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) with the ability to articulate program enhancements and influence key stakeholders.
  • Best Practice Methodology: Strong understanding of industry best practices pertaining to Operational Resilience, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery programs and controls.
  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree.
  • Strong team player who is proactive, positive, self-motivated, and goal-oriented.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven Project Management experience.
  • Proven staff leadership and management experience.
  • PC skills: Above proficient skills with Microsoft applications (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).


Where will you be working?
This role is based at our New York office in Downtown Manhattan. This role may require some travel to other Morgan Stanley offices as part of role responsibilities.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $150,000 and $210,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
