Research, MENA Economist - Associate/VP
Morgan Stanley are looking to hire an experienced economist to join the European Economics Research team to cover the Mena region (Saudi Arabia, Eqypt, Isreal). The team is based in Frankfurt and London. Depending on the candidate, the role can be placed in any of these locations.
The economist in this position will be expected to provide thought leadership on the economies covered and the wider region. You would be producing macroeconomic forecasts for the countries covered, exploring macro themes and building an analytical infrastructure to help these tasks. The role will also involve writing briefing notes and maintaining regular contact to internal and external stakeholders through meetings and presentations. A deep knowledge of at least one of the countries covered in the region (Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Israel) is desired.
The role would work closely with the wider European economics team on the regional product, producing independent notes on topical issues, and collaborating on research with other economists and a range of market strategists and sector analysts

What will you be doing?
- Analysing and commenting on economic data releases and policy events
- Building and maintaining macro databases and econometric models
- Putting together presentations, interacting and meeting with clients
- Undertaking research for medium-term projects
- Producing reports and model forecasts
- Communicating views to internal and external clients
What we're looking for:
- Degree in Economics or a similar field of quantitative study
- Strong background in macroeconomics. Comprehensive knowledge of the economies covered. Knowledge of the Turkish economy would be an asset
- Network of relevant stakeholders in the region
- Experience in a policy institution, such as a central bank or ministry of finance, would be an asset
- Practical experience in econometrics and proficiency in using relevant software
- Excellent IT skills related to data manipulation, spreadsheet modelling and automation
- Ability to communicate clearly in verbal presentations
- Advanced business writing skills to produce concise and articulate reports in English
