Team Profile

Our Tokyo-based Investment Trust Department is responsible for driving the growth of our retail fund business in Japan. The team collaborates closely with global portfolio managers and product specialists to deliver innovative investment solutions to our distribution partners, including major financial institutions. Under the leadership of the Managing Director, the ED will play a key role in mentoring junior staff and ensuring best-in-class client engagement.

Role Overview:

The Relationship Manager (Executive Director level) will be responsible for promoting and expanding the distribution of our investment trust products through strong partnerships with asset management firms and major financial institutions. This role requires both strategic business development and hands-on relationship management, as well as leadership in guiding junior team members. The ED will also serve as a vital communication bridge between our Tokyo office and global investment teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive sales and distribution of the firm's investment trust products with leading financial institutions.
  • Build, maintain, and strengthen long-term relationships with distribution partners.
  • Provide product proposals, sales ideas, and market insights to promote fund adoption.
  • Mentor, guide, and develop junior staff and assistants within the team.
  • Collaborate with overseas portfolio managers and product specialists, including coordination and support during their visits to Japan.
  • Contribute to marketing initiatives and client events, ensuring alignment with global strategies.
  • Prepare high-quality presentation and marketing materials for client meetings.


Required Knowledge:
  • Solid understanding of investment trust products, retail distribution, and the asset management industry in Japan.
  • Knowledge of financial markets, investment strategies, and client distribution channels.
  • Awareness of cross-border business dynamics and global asset management practices.


Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Relevant industry experience in asset management, financial institutions, or related fields.
  • Bilingual proficiency: Japanese (native or business fluent) and English (business level; near-native proficiency preferred).
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and long-lasting relationships.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including coaching and developing junior staff.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in preparing client materials (PowerPoint, Excel, and other presentation tools).
  • Creativity and initiative to develop new ideas for client engagement and sales promotion.
