Public Relations Vice President

We are seeking an experienced public relations professional to join our team in New York to focus on the execution of integrated communications campaigns for Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM). The candidate will work with all members of the MSIM corporate communications team to support the development and execution of public relations campaigns, including print, online and broadcast media relations.

As one of Morgan Stanley's three divisions, MSIM has $1.6 trillion in assets under management or supervision as of March 31, 2025, across a comprehensive suite of public and private market investment management solutions. MSIM's diverse client base includes governments, institutions, corporations and individuals worldwide.

This position is part of the Morgan Stanley corporate communications team and will ensure MSIM's communication activities are aligned with Firm objectives.

The position requires strong writing and editing skills, including the ability to communicate complex subject matter in a highly regulated environment; a high degree of familiarity with media outlets and reporters, preferably those that focus on the asset management industry; effective organizational skills and attention to detail; and the ability to work well under short-term deadlines.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as a key communications advisor to select MSIM portfolio management and distribution teams to build out media campaigns that support business goals.
• Set communications goals, develop media plans, pitch story ideas, draft press releases, manage inbound media inquiries, coordinate interviews with executives, and serve as a media spokesperson when appropriate.
• Engage proactively with media to generate positive coverage of MSIM's initiatives and thought leadership
• Work with business leaders and stakeholder to manage reputational risks.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and colleagues in MSIM Marketing and internal communications to deliver impactful campaigns across Morgan Stanley's internal and external digital platforms.
• Coordinate with communications professionals across the global firm to ensure consistent, coordinated message delivery and work to highlight the power of the integrated firm.

Qualifications:

• At least 8 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role, preferably in public relations, including media relations, preferably with a focus on the financial services sector.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to provide effective editorial and messaging guidance
• Strong attention to detail with solid organization and time management skills
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment with the ability to make sound decisions quickly and handle multiple tasks concurrently
• Independent, resourceful and a self-starter
• An enthusiastic, positive team player willing to help and work well with colleagues
• Confident communicator who can build relationships internally and externally

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $120,000 and $205,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
