Key functions include performing in-depth market research and competitor analysis to identify industry trends and future growth vectors, evaluating organic and inorganic growth opportunities, and facilitating executive management communication of priorities and performance to internal and external stakeholders. As part of this mandate, IM Strategy plays a key role in the execution of M&A transactions often pivotal to the Firm's long-term success (e.g., Eaton Vance, Mesa West Capital). In conjunction, the team focuses on executing workstream verticals for Firm management including supporting the Integrated Firm through senior management client connectivity and developing client and business synergies with Wealth Management and Institutional Securities Divisions. The team also supports the Firm and IM management through preparing presentation materials for Firm-level Operating Committee and Board meetings. Additionally, the team supports IM management through business line strategy development and execution across all asset classes, channels, and regions.IM Strategy offers the opportunity to join a team that is at the center of shaping the Investment Management division's strategy and future while working on a broad spectrum of strategic initiatives that are critical priorities for the head of Investment Management and Firm C-suite leadership.Responsibilities: * Detailed industry and competitor research and assessments * Analyzing and summarizing internal data into meaningful deliverables / presentations for senior management and external stakeholders * Managing processes across key stakeholder groups including Sales, Finance, Data, Legal, Compliance, HR, business unit management, MSIM senior management, and Firm management * Evaluating and executing on growth opportunities across asset classes, channels, and regions * Providing Firm senior management teams with MSIM-specific client information in advance of external meetings on tight timelines * Supporting and managing Investment Management business unit acquisitions and divestitures, including assessing strategic fit in the context of the broader business, conducting valuation / pro-forma analyses, coordinating due diligence processes, and partaking in integration efforts * Improving operational efficiency and effectivenessQualifications: * Ideal candidate will have 1-4 years of experience at a leading investment bank or a top-tier strategy consulting firm, although candidates with commensurate experience and skill sets will also be considered * Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field * Ability to structure and manage complex projects and processes with multiple stakeholders at both senior and junior levels * Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously * Demonstrated interest in finance and basic understanding of accounting principles * Outstanding analytical and quantitative skills * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * A quick learner with a strong work ethic; a team player with the ability to work independently * Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to manage time efficiently and effectivelyWHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM MORGAN STANLEY:We are committed to maintaining the first-class service and high standard of excellence that have defined Morgan Stanley for over 89 years.
