As of September 30, 2024, MSIM and all its advisory affiliates has assets under management of USD1.7T.Department ProfileIM Operations group supports the equity, fixed income, liquidity and alternative businesses for Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM), providing middle-office services including portfolio manager and trading support, client services and onboarding, market registration, product data, derivative processing, performance analysis and mutual fund support. Besides, IM Operations also perform vendor management on the service providers.Background on the TeamAs part of the IM Operations group, this role is part of the portfolio & client services team based in Singapore. The team plays an integral role in servicing clients, portfolio managers, trading, sales and marketing teams as well as coordination with support functions (eg. legal and compliance, product development, risk management, etc) in delivering complete suite of operational support and strategy to the business in Asia (ex-Japan). The team provides coverage for separately managed institutional client (ie. SMA) investing in Asia product as well as Asia intermediary clients of MSINVF mutual fund.Morgan Stanley Investment management has outsourced various investment operations function to State Street Bank and Trust Company globally. Hence, the team works in partnership with the outsourced Investment Manager Solutions (IMS) team at State Street to ensure seamless delivery of operations support and solutions.Morgan Stanley Investment Management continuously evolve to offer new product strategy, requiring ever changing infrastructure and solutions. This position would require the individual to work closely with functional teams in other regions and liaison with global stakeholders to make strategic contributions to the business.Primary Responsibilities• Serve as single point of contact, providing proactive and effective operational support for internal stakeholders such as business and infrastructure teams with external service providers (eg. State Street IMS, CACEIS TA, custodian, etc)• Accountable for review and resolution of all operational issues for the assigned portfolios (eg. Separately Managed account, MS Funds)• Oversight of Portfolio Manager and Client reporting deliverables• Perform cash management functions, review of various reports (eg. Reconciliations, overdraft, cash projections)• Facilitate timely and accurate implementation of client instructions, including items such as cash flows, performance queries, reporting, etc.• Liaison with vendors to ensure timely resolution of operational issues such as trade processing/settlement, corporate actions, reconciliation breaks, etc• Responsible for the oversight and governance of external vendors• Manage and coordinate T3 events (ie. Take on, Termination, Transition) activity across all internal functional teams (e.g. investment team, sales, trading, infrastructure) and external parties• Support day-to-day inquiries and requests for institutional, sub-advised and intermediary clients• Provide client service support for the intermediary client based in Asia who invest in Msinvf and Liquidity Fund• Perform fund administration governance and middle-office support for the MS onshore fund in China• Involve in firmwide or regional projects and system testing as required• Perform related duties as assignedSkills Required• Critical thinking skills for problem-solving, decision-making and analyzing complex information• Innovative mindset identifying and implementing efficiency to enhance operational workflow• Inquisitive and keen learner who is not afraid to question status quo• Used to working in fast-paced environment and managing high pressure situations calmly and efficiently• Able to work independently and confidence in resolving issues with minimum guidance• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey complex information• Demonstrate confidence interacting with senior individuals and management across various functions• Proven record in building trust and relationship with client and internal stakeholders• Team Player with good interpersonal skills, actively participate in meetings contributing ideas and solutions• Ability to identify risk and escalate issues timely• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications• High proficiency in mandarin skills would be an advantage to support clients and stakeholders in Greater China regionCandidates for this position should have minimum 5 years' experience in a similar asset management or financial services organization who gained direct experience in a similar role or may come from client servicing or operational background. The individual must be a self-starter who maintains a high standard of work accuracy and ethic while managing various deadlines.
