Team ProfileThe Fixed Income department within MSIM has team members located in New York, Boston, London, Tokyo and Singapore, managing $207B (as of 31st March 2025) of active fixed income mandates for a broad range of clients. With staff in Boston, New York and London, the High Yield Team is one of eight specialist teams within the fixed income department. There are 7 Portfolio Managers, 22 Research Analysts and 4 Traders all dedicated to high-yield markets. The team is globally integrated and manages US, Global and European strategies for institutional, intermediary, and individual clients worldwide. Team assets were $26.4B as of March 31, 2025. There is an opportunity for an ambitious individual to join one of the best resourced and most successful High Yield teams in the world. Role ProfileThe High Yield Team analyzes companies and industries and turns the resulting fundamental views into investment ideas. The research function is organized by industry specialization with each Senior Analyst covering two to four industries. Research Associates support Senior Analysts in the coverage of their respective industries. Conducting in-depth company, industry and relative value analysis with Senior Analysts results in excellent investment experience.What you'll do in the role: * Assist Senior High Yield Analysts and Portfolio Managers in their evaluation of potential investment opportunities. At a high level, this includes: (i) analysis of industry fundamentals and outlooks, and (ii) conducting in-depth fundamental research on individual company business models, operating strategies and outlooks. This work typically results in a conclusion regarding the creditworthiness of the company being evaluated and the relative attractiveness of their debt instruments. * Build and maintain proprietary financial models from data obtained from company filings (e.g., 10-Ks, 10-Qs) and other data sources (e.g., Bloomberg, S&P Capital IQ, industry-specific information providers). In addition to company-specific financial models, credit analysis often includes additional elements, such as: sensitivity analyses, peer comparisons and industry-specific analyses. * Prepare detailed initiation of coverage research reports and periodic updates. * Take part in due diligence meetings with management teams. * Participate in daily investment team meetings, company reviews (often occurring as a result primary issuance or a secondary market opportunity) and industry reviews. * Work on special projects and assignments for the High Yield Team. * Responsibility increases are based on merit and investment performance. What you'll bring to the role: * You have relevant investment-related experience. * You have a bachelor's degree with an excellent academic background. * You have demonstrated interest in financial markets, economics and/or international affairs. * You have strong analytical and decision-making skills. * You are reliable and independent with a strong attention to detail. * You have a strong work ethic. * You are comfortable working in a team environment with the ability to manage a wide range of responsibilities. * You have outstanding oral and written communication skills. * You articulate complex ideas simply and summarize them effectively. * You are committed to excellence in your work and maintain high professional and ethical standards.
