It covers functions across IED ranging from those associated with sales, trading, analytics, strats to risk management.Primary ResponsibilitiesMorgan Stanley's Equities Derivatives division is looking for a strong team lead with experience of hiring, supervising and developing an offshore team of Quant Developers working on C++ development and/or python development for Equities products & pricing. The Quant Dev team supports the analytics library code used by desk strats and by the firm's pricing, P&L and risk systems. The team is responsible for all lifecycle, engineering, documentation and regulatory aspects of the libraries. The candidate will work closely with the desk strats to assist with development of pricing and risk analytics.Key Responsibilities• Hiring, supervising and developing a team of Quant Developers based in India who will work as part of the global IED Strats team to support Desk Strats within IED • Participating in planning, reporting and task prioritization processes for the global IED Strats team along with team leads in other locations. • Working with Desk Strats to develop, maintain and support the Equities C++ analytics libraries. • Improving the engineering standards and performance of the library code. • Adding support for new products and market conventions. • Investigating pricing and risk issues. • Working closely with IT on integration of the libraries into the firm's risk systems. • Liaising with control functions including model risk, software lifecycle, audit and regulatory. Leadership, Stakeholder & Team Management:• Lead, groom, and develop the Core Strats team in Mumbai. • Foster a culture of collaboration and efficiency, ensuring that the team provides top-tier support to the desk. • Monitor team performance and feedback, handle resource planning, recruitment, and staff training. • Build strong relationships with regional Strats desk, Risk, Compliance, and Technology teams. • Serve as a liaison between the Strats, Trading desk and other departments to resolve issues and implement solutions. • Continuously review and improve operational workflows to enhance efficiency and minimize risk.Skills required (essential)• Proven experience in a similar role building an offshore QD team and working with Strats stakeholders and QD peers in a geographically distributed team. • At least 15 years of experience in software development using C++/ Java & python. • Bachelor's degree in a technical field that uses applied mathematics (ex. Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics). • Experience of designing and maintaining analytics libraries, including exposure to Derivative products. • Strong C++ development, including working in a large team with a large, rapidly changing codebase and of supervising people working in such an environment. • Good communication skills and the ability to work with trading desks and IT. • Experience working in a cross-functional teams, bridging technical & design perspectives. • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. • Drive and desire to work in an intense team-oriented environment.
