We partner with advisors, institutions, and consultants to build portfolios focused on what's important to them and their clients. A leader in custom solutions for more than 30 years, we help investors access efficient market exposures, solve implementation challenges, and design multi-asset portfolios that respond to their evolving needs. We also offer systematic alpha and alternative strategies to complement clients' core holdings. This role is part of Parametric's hybrid working model, which includes working in the office 3 days a week and choosing to work remotely or in the office the remaining days of the week. ABOUT TEAM The Platform Engineering team is part of Parametric IT's Developer Experience department at Parametric and is vital to developer enablement and system reliability in all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). As a team, we: * Consult and collaborate with cloud-native (AWS, Azure) and self-hosted application teams to deliver and operate reliable, performant, robust, and secure applications * Automate provisioning of non-production environment for application development and testing * Design, operate, and manage development toolchains and pipelines to meet objectives for high-velocity delivery while also meeting control requirements * Build and maintain container orchestration on Kubernetes * Provide observability via monitoring tools such as Datadog, Splunk, Sentry etc. ABOUT THE ROLE The Director, Platform Engineering will be responsible for leading a team of Platform Engineers to plan and execute on strategic initiatives related to developer enablement, software delivery automation and policy/standards alignment in a highly regulated environment. You'll work closely with software engineers, test automation engineers, cloud operations, infrastructure operations and cybersecurity teams to create runtime environments, ci/cd pipelines and observability tooling which enable software delivery teams throughout all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). You'll also collaborate with other technology leaders in the organization to harden Parametric's application architecture standards and drive these standards throughout the application portfolio that makes up our Radius platform. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES * Direct a team of Platform Engineering professionals by providing strategic thought leadership, roadmap and project planning and individual career development * Provide thought and practice leadership to help transform Parametric's development practice to be standards based, highly automated and systematic, enabling increased velocity of software delivery, risk reduction and strict adherence to SDLC policy controls * Coach and mentor direct reports to support professional development, engagement, and organizational goals * Continuously improve the Developer Experience at Parametric through value-added development of tooling and documentation used through all phases of the SDLC * Work with Quality Engineering leadership team and stakeholders to increase level of continuous test automation in UAT and Production environments * Work closely with Morgan Stanley Developer Enablement partners to continue Parametric's integration journey with parent company Morgan StanleyJOB QUALIFICATIONS PRIMARY SKILLS * Bachelor's degree required * 10+ years of hands-on Platform Engineering (i.e., DevOps, SysOps, SRE) experience with a proven track record of people and thought leadership to achieve strategic objectives * 5+ years of hands-on experience with cloud-native solution architectures and related platform support, i.e., Cyber Security, Infrastructure as Code (IAC), Observability * 5+ year in a Senior Leadership role with responsibility for creating multi-year roadmaps and fiscal year project plans * Ability to dive deep and get hands-on to contribute to platform engineering solutions * Effective mentor to a global team of platform engineers with several senior level associates * Expertise in automation strategies for cloud-native solutions (pipelines, IAC, test suites) * Proven experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms * Experience implementing IAC - Terraform preferred * Experience using GitHub and engineering YAML based ci/cd pipelines * Experience implementing and operating container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes) * Developer enablement mindset with an ability to collaborate across technology teams * Experience with application development using Java and/or C# programming * Expertise scripting with Powershell and/or Python * Experience with Vulnerability Management tooling (SAST and SCA scanning) integration with SDLC toolchain * Experience using Gen AI tooling for software development and testing productivity Parametric believes each member of our organization makes a significant contribution to our success. The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive compensation award. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit's incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
