Database Administrator - Director - Data & Analytics Engineering

We're seeking someone to join our Data Obfuscation squad as a hybrid DBA/Database Engineer in Cybersecurity to build reusable database services, automation frameworks and design scalable data processing platforms.

In the Technology division, we leverage innovation to build the connections and capabilities that power our Firm, enabling our clients and colleagues to redefine markets and shape the future of our communities. This is a Data Engineer position at Director level, which is part of the Data & Analytics Engineering job family responsible for designing, building and maintaining reliable, efficient and secure data systems.

What you'll do in the role:

  • Architect resilient on-prem and multi-cloud database solutions
  • Deliver secure and performant database capabilities that accelerate all data-driven teams while enforcing governance and reliability at scale
  • Design and build automations and tooling to enable firmwide data engineering and application development teams, helping them to optimize data processing based on their specific database platforms and user needs
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives around system modernization, platform standardization, observability and cost efficiency
  • Design, develop and maintain innovative scalable solutions to optimize complex data pipelines including ETL processes
  • Develop solutions leveraging database backup and restore methods, DDL generation and manipulation, database access management and permission hierarchy, schema and object level high performance data movement
  • Partner with data engineers to build solutions with push down optimization, ELT, Spark based data processing and streaming, replication, partitioning, clustering, change data capture and time travel
  • Contribute to the function through complex project tasks and initiatives
  • Interact regularly with team members and occasionally leadership on a range of topics


Qualifications:

What you'll bring to the role:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing complex database and data solutions
  • Strong expertise in database engineering in multiple database platforms in various environments (eg PostgreSQL, DB2, SQL Server, Sybase, Snowflake, AzureSQL, MongoDB. Teradata, Oracle etc)
  • Extensive experience building and optimizing data pipelines and data architectures (preferred using Talend, Kafka and/or Informatica)
  • Expertise in performance optimization and scalability
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in programming in Python, Java and/or shell
  • Preferred certification in AWS/Azure/GCP data platform, DB2 DBA, PostgreSQL Professional, MongoDB DBA, SnowPro Advanced Administrator
  • Ability to process information, translate into plans and present summaries to the squad
  • At least 5 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role.
