Job Function : Centralized Exception Reporting Team (CERT)

Department : Morgan Stanley Fund Services

Designation : Associate/Senior Associate

Reports to : Manager

Experience : Associate (1 to 3 years)

Position Description : Associate will perform a variety of processes that have been centralized to generate scale and efficiency. They support the internal Accounting/CERT/Investor Services roles.

Morgan Stanley Fund Services (MSFS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Morgan Stanley, provides fund administration services to World's leading hedge funds. MSFS has over 700 professional with offices in New York, London, Hong Kong, Dublin, Mumbai, Bangalore and Glasgow.

Primary Responsibilities: -

  • Coordination with custodians and counterparties to set up standard set of reporting that is required for reconciliation, validation of monthend accruals/checks and regulatory reporting. Working with these parties to receive good data files to assist in automation effort of reconciliation and posting of accruals systematically. Working with these parties to discontinue reporting in case of termination/liquidation of hedge fund client. Providing updates to internal teams if there are delays in custodian reporting
  • Work with internal teams to automate reconciliations and accrual postings
  • Initiation/set up of new hedge fund clients on the allocation systems on the basis of Offering Memorandum of those funds.
  • Setting/ approval up of beneficiary details or wire instructions of various parties like vendors or investors of hedge fund clients
  • Initiation of wire payments to vendors on behalf of hedge fund clients
  • Supporting Middle Office clients with their wires, reporting
  • Setting up of new bank accounts for new funds/clients
  • Bond Interest validation from Bloomberg
  • Creation of inhouse cusip for Over the counter products traded by hedge fund clients
  • CDS Trade booking on behalf of clients on the basis of trade tickets

Skills required:

An Associate is likely to have the following characteristics:

  • A number of years prior work experience - preferably in financial services. Knowledge of hedge fund processing is a strong advantage.
  • Good administrative and organisational skills with a particular focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • An ability to work under pressure and an ability to cope with increased workloads at month-end.
  • An ability to work as part of a virtual team that is spread across different time zones and geographies.
  • An ability to use key financial systems and other IT tools.
