The Portfolio Solutions Group (PSG) is a multi-asset investment team which offers custom and risk aware multi-asset solutions for institutional and high net worth clients. The team is part of the broader Global Solution and Multi-Asset universe under MSIM. The Investment team manages US$36Bn (at 31 December 2023) in assets and has team members in New York, London, Hong Kong, Singapore, and India. The opportunity is in the Quantitative Research group of the investment team, based in London. The successful candidate will have the unique opportunity to work with other functions within the team as well as its key partners, this includes, the Capital Markets group, the Investment Selection team, Quantitative Modellers, Data Architects, Middle Office team, Technology and Traders.

The internship will commence in July 2024 and last for six months with the possibility to extend the duration to twelve months.

TRAINING PROGRAM

You will receive on-the-job training and benefit from working alongside experienced professionals on a variety of projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work on small projects and ad-hoc request for the Quantitative Research group as well as the broader PSG team
  • Use technical skillset to help maintain the team's data analytics infrastructure (code and databases)
  • Experience first-hand how portfolio managers and other investment professionals go about their day-to-day work.

QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS/ REQUIREMENTS
  • You have graduated from university or able to take the time off to commit for a full-time internship role for six to twelve months if you are currently in study
  • You are a top performer in any academic field with a demonstrable interest in business, finance and investment
  • You are fluent in English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • You are analytical, with the ability to work and think independently, but within a team-based approach
  • You are self-motivated, curious and have entrepreneurial spirit
  • A strong foundation in applied empirical analysis (experimental work in natural sciences, statistics, econometrics, data science) and facility with manipulating numbers, including programming skills
  • Working knowledge of Python and SQL databases
  • Experience with other data science tools or programming languages is a plus
