The Banking Operating Unit within MA develops solutions for banks seeking to implement best practices in transforming banks to enable growth, risk measurement, risk management, capital management, and financial reporting. We have a need for outstanding individuals with strong analytical ability, excellent communication skills, and an interest in financial consulting. Our team comprises a mix of quantitative analysts and business analysts. Both profiles have been highly successful on our team, and we are open to either for the current position.

As recent examples of our work, we have helped over 100 banks successfully revamp their allowance processes to be consistent with CECL, we have provided capital adequacy and portfolio optimization capabilities to numerous clients, we have provided rapid stress testing to major banks, we've advised numerous large financial institutions on the measurement and management of climate risk, and we have modernized the risk rating methodologies and practices at more than 40 banks, helping them prepare for scale and growth.

Role and Responsibilities

This is a client-facing role, focused on assessing client banks' business needs and scoping and delivering appropriate solutions. Team members wear many hats depending on the nature of each engagement, operating primarily as subject matter experts and advisors, but also managing advisory engagements and keeping our firm up-to-date as to emerging themes in the banking market. Ideal candidates for this role will have excellent communication and organizational skills, be detailed oriented, and possess strong analytical skills. From the client side, our engagements are typically sponsored by the Chief Credit Officer, the Chief Risk Officer, the Chief Financial Officer, and/or the Chief Accounting Officer.
In this role, you will take a lead role in ensuring the timely completion of high-quality deliverables, manage expectations and communications with clients, and build a strong rapport with the client. Specific duties include:

Identify and analyze client issues, conduct research, analyze data, map processes and design solutions to address client's challenges
Support engagement managers and senior team members in addressing and solving challenges and issues for clients
Explain analyses to clients and suggest ways to improve processes and analyses
Assist in preparing reports and client presentations
Develop a broad understanding of Moody's Analytics offerings and capabilities, and share that knowledge with clients to strengthen adoption of Moody's solutions.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Math or related field
Minimum three (3) years of experience with a bank, asset manager, insurer, management consultancy, audit firm, national financial regulator, economic consultancy, or financial software firm.

Skills/Knowledge Required:
Track record of working well in team environments and contributing innovative ideas.
Clear written and verbal communication skills with an ability to communicate complex concepts to a senior audience.
Strong client orientation with commitment to client satisfaction.
At minimum, basic understanding of the North American banking system.
Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint.
Helpful Skills/Knowledge
Knowledge of Moody's RiskCalc, CMM, RiskFrontier, ImpairmentStudio, and/or CreditLens is a plus.
Experience successfully designing, applying, and interpreting basic statistical tests (e.g., regression analysis, time series analysis, t-tests, etc.) would be advantageous.
Working knowledge of common statistical software packages (e.g., R, WPS, etc.) a plus.
Strong evidence of being self-disciplined, highly organized, able to multi-task, and attentive to detail.
