Modern Animal is building the future of veterinary care, together - and we’re looking for a Care Team Recruiter to help us grow our clinic teams.
This role will be at the forefront of growth for Modern Animal, and will be eager to solve some of the industry’s hardest talent acquisitions challenges. They will thrive in a cross-functional and entrepreneurial environment, and will be passionate about delivering against aggressive hiring targets across many locations, in multiple states.
This role is based in our HQ in Los Angeles.
Responsibilities:
- Above all, demonstrates an obsession with results; drives with a high sense of urgency, though never compromising quality, to meet and exceed hiring targets across their respective market(s).
- Builds robust talent networks across the industry, and taps knowledgeable industry sources to develop an on-going pool of candidates for the business proactively.
- Drives the end-to-end sourcing, including strategies that uncover hard-to-find, high caliber veterinarian candidates and force multiply hiring results across the org.
- With an eye towards quality, creates compelling, personalized and high-touch candidate touch points/outreach aimed to increase open and response rates ongoing.
- Views both candidate and Hiring Managers as their core customers, creating an exceptional end-to-end experience with the Modern Animal recruiting organization across every touch point.
- Autonomously drives the end-to-end recruiting process from position opening to filled, while nurturing a best-in-class, high-touch candidate experience that represents Modern Animal’s mission and values.
- Recommending and driving recruitment strategies that will contribute to the long-range growth of the company, including the implementation of new processes to deliver the highest quality results to the customer.
- Utilizes extensive knowledge of Talent Acquisition and functional areas of the business to influence team strategy and direction at the most complex level.
- Ensures successful partnership with Clinic-level leadership to drive decentralized processes and shared ownership of candidate journey across touchpoints
- Independently uses data to regularly identify recruiting trends (whats working, whats not working, root cause and solution), and draws inferences and conclusions that inform future strategy/approach.
- Oversees “top of funnel” recruiting strategies for their respective markets, including but not limited to continued education conferences, campus visits, and any other related activities to support DVM recruiting efforts. Quarterbacks the entire Total Addressable Market (candidate pool) from identification through conversion to “Interested Response Rate,” and/or “Recruiter Interview.”

- Takes a data driven approach to sourcing methodologies and market intelligence research; directly interfaces with business leaders to provide ground-breaking industry insights that inform Modern Animal’s recruiting and expansion strategy long-term
Ideal Experience + Traits:
- 5+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, a plus if in the veterinary or healthcare industry
- Thrives in an innovative, fast-paced environment startup environment; high level of ownership, can roll up their sleeves, work hard, and have fun to get the job done with limited direction
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex recruitment campaigns and meeting aggressive hiring targets
- Demonstrated experience thinking strategically about complex business problems that lead to recommendations and action plans
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate ideas and drive cross-functional partnerships across the business
- Strong work ethic, initiative, sense of urgency, proactive with ability to work within a team
- Ability to deliver results autonomously, seeking assistance/support and/or escalate when necessary
- Relentlessly high standards, excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, detail-oriented, and data driven.

- The compensation range for this position is $76,000 to $115,000 per year.
