Director, Brand Activation
The Director, Brand Activation is a member of the Brand Marketing leadership team whose primary responsibility will be co-developing strategic marketing plans with MLB’s broadcast and streaming rights holders, media partners, and corporate sponsors for the purpose of driving stronger viewership, ticket sales, and audience growth.
Reporting into the Director of Brand Marketing, this role will lead a small team in the creative activation of MLB’s brand platform and multitude of seasonal, jewel event, and product campaigns through external partners. They will also be responsible for driving the day-to-day project management of partner rights fulfillment.
Responsibilities
Conducting Core Work Activities
- Build deep strategic marketing relationships with MLB’s external broadcast, streaming, and media partners while establishing strong collaborative relationships with MLB’s internal Broadcast, Global Media, Sponsorship, Club Marketing, and Performance Media departments
- Integrate partners into MLB’s annual and long-term marketing planning process to inform proactive and strategically aligned activation of our brand platform, seasonal campaigns, player programs, jewel events, and key initiatives, and core products
- Seek new and innovative ways of maximizing partner relationships (e.g., creating unique marketing platforms, connecting multiple partners, etc.) to elevate baseball, grow audience, and drive viewership.
- Serve as the main day-to-day marketing liaison with external partners and internal departments, overseeing management and fulfillment of contractual obligations (e.g., briefing, creative development, quality assurance, trafficking assets, etc.)
- Collaborate with the PR and Content departments and MLB Network to shape weekly baseball narratives before extending narratives to external partners for amplification
- Support the Marketing Strategy and Marketing Analytics departments in developing new audience segmentation while building a more effective performance measurement tool to track tune-in effectiveness
- Collaborate with Performance Media in developing strategy for inventory management, media investments/swaps, and sharing best practices

Qualifications & Skills
- 4-year degree from an accredited university in marketing, advertising, communications, business, or related field and 10+ years’ experience in marketing or related functional area; OR equivalent relevant experience
- Strong experience in broadcast, streaming, media house, and corporate sponsorships
- MBA preferred
Salary Range: $125,000 - $155,000 (Base Salary) + Bonus
As a candidate for this position, your salary and related aspects of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills, and any other factors MLB considers relevant to the hiring decision.
