Working Capital Origination & Solutions Director

SUMMARY:

The role of Director within the Working Capital Origination & Solutions team (the "Origination Team") of GTBD Americas is to promote and execute various trade transactions utilizing the short-term working capital product offering, primarily SCF/IDF/Inventory Finance programs as well as Letters of Credit of GTBD Americas.

The Director's responsibilities will include regular collaboration with GTBD Trade Product Management and Execution & Delivery teams, client Relationship Managers ("RMs") on the Japanese North American Banking ("JNAB") team and JNAB clients, and as needed, the Banking Americas ("BA") coverage team and BA clients, in order to identify specific trade finance needs and pitch appropriate solutions . Regular coordination with Business Origination Units, Credit Divisions and Operations units in the Americas and throughout the Mizuho global network to ensure the successful execution of trade related transactions. There will be a primary emphasis on the working capital product suite (supply chain finance, receivables finance, distributor financing, inventory finance, etc).

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Director - Working Capital Originations & Solutions will be responsible for the origination of all short term and structured trade products via interaction with JNAB and BA clients, Business Origination Units, legal department and credit divisions to source, structure, negotiate and execute transactions. The Director will also take a leading role in all aspects of risk distribution of trade assets as per the RISK Distribution Business Plan.

1) General
  • The Director - Working Capital Originations & Solutions will be responsible for origination of SCF, Inventory Finance, Receivable Purchase programs and Letter of Credit opportunities in support of GTBD Trade Product Management and Execution & Delivery teams and product partners within the wider bank. The individual will support the pursuit of common goals of minimizing risk while maximizing client satisfaction and returns to Mizuho shareholders.

  • The Director - Working Capital Originations & Solutions will articulate these products and solutions to RMs and to JNAB and BA clients, and will direct and support all phases of structuring, negotiations with Clients, including pricing and documentation, approval and execution.

  • The Director - Working Capital Originations & Solutions will build relationships with JNAB and BA clients' Trade Finance individuals and Treasury personnel, and will conduct standalone / joint calling with JNAB and BA RMs to provide Trade Finance solutions and technical expertise .

  • The Director - Working Capital Originations & Solutions will support the preparation of client pitch books and Trade Finance RFPs, coordinate with global teams on target opportunities, and manage deal flow communication and track pipeline / revenues.

  • The Director - Working Capital Originations & Solutions will partner closely with the Trade Product Management and Execution & Delivery teams to ensure seamless handover of closed sales to the teams for execution.

  • The Director - Working Capital Originations & Solutions will support the MD Trade Product GTBD - Americas in implementing the Trade Product Business Plan, drive results and achieve targets.

2) Administrative
  • The Director - Working Capital Originations & Solutions will have a thorough understanding of Mizuho Internal Operating Procedures ("IOP") for all trade products, including supply chain finance and receivable purchase programs, silent payment guarantees, trade advances, structured trade products (pre-export / prepayment financing), LC confirmation and LC issuance, distributor financing and risk distribution.

  • As needed, the Director - Working Capital Originations & Solutions will support Trade Product Management team in terms of credit application preparation and submissions within GTBD and Credit Divisions/Business Partners to assure adequate credit/structuring risk protections on Client transactions for the Bank.

  • The Director - Working Capital Originations & Solutions will ensure Trade Product Management team is kept updated on client (transactions) discussions, and ensure Trade Pipeline report is up-to date.

  • Coordinate with Legal Unit for documentation negotiation and processing for completion of product transactions' legal protections for the Bank.

  • Operational understanding of Products and Solutions, in co-ordination with GTBD's RCMG unit, and ABOD, for successful transaction management and execution within Mizuho network and other areas.

3) Policy
  • Position responsible for adhering to all policy and process and procedure documents necessary to implement and monitor the Platform.

  • Understand / Review / Monitor / Update various product IOPs including SCF/IDF and Risk Distribution; Support the development of new products and improvements / efficiencies to existing products and policies as necessary.

4) Technical Skills Required
  • Comprehensive Banking Experience, Skills in Products / Credit / Operations / Client Customer Service / Client Contacts to Advise / Consult / Structure / Strategize within Mizuho's Branch Network.

  • PC skills with a solid understanding of spreadsheet applications; Microsoft Word. Excel and PowerPoint.

5) Management Responsibilities - Not applicable

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS OR EXPERIENCE:

Work Experience:

Minimum 10 years' experience in the field of Trade Finance products working in financial institutions;

In addition, the Director - Working Capital Originations & Solutions must exhibit :

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to support the coordination and implementation of the Trade Products Business Plan within the Americas and across regions.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills; the ability work seamlessly in a multi-cultural environment.

  • The ability to build consensus; proven negotiations skills with the ability to influence and persuade internal and external senior management level contacts.

  • Proven people skills with the ability to effectively manage expectations of both GTBD's internal and external clients; review and establish goals.

  • Sensitivity to client needs while being cognizant of delivery capabilities.

  • The ability to support the delivery of the Trade Products Business Plan with resources provided.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and apply results to resolve issues.

  • T he ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.

Education : college degree in banking/finance; MBA a plus

Language : Japanese a plus but not required

OTHER/MISCELLANEOUS: The Director within GTBD-Americas Trade Product Unit will focus on taking both an Americas and global coordinated effort to promote and execute products to generate income, identify internal and external hurdles to global delivery and business expansion, and improve and streamline the product delivery process, working closely with all internal Mizuho stakeholders.

The expected base salary ranges from $180,000 - $225,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
