Account Executive, Consumer. Public Relations

What We Need:

MWWPR has an exciting opportunity for an Account Executive on the Consumer team.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Serve as liaison between clients, vendors, and agency departments to coordinate efficient and timely processing of materials

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with journalists and influencers; proactively pitch media daily and secure publicity for clients (local, regional, national)

• Assist in the development, planning and execution of client media strategies

• Participate actively in account team strategy sessions and brainstorms

• Develop a thorough understanding of clients' businesses and industries, and the industry issues that directly and indirectly affect the client

• Begin to provide client counsel on tactical matters linked to strategic plans; anticipate client needs and prepare in advance

• Conduct media monitoring to identify client-relevant media coverage, including competitive market and industry information, and perform analysis on these stories for your clients

• Maintain knowledge and understanding of industry publications, nationals, broadcast media

• Help manage the development of press materials; develop, draft and edit press releases, pitch letters, key messages, media backgrounders, briefing memos/documents, media alerts, and campaign presentations

• Schedule and coordinate client meetings; keep participants advised of changes; develop meeting agendas and written recaps

• Proofread internal and client documents for accuracy and quality

• Interact with client as deemed necessary by account team leader

• Conduct media monitoring and analysis and prepare reports for distribution to client(s), as necessary

• Develop and maintain media contact lists and databases, updating regularly and mining for new contacts

• Scan daily, weekly, monthly and online publications to identify and flag client-relevant media coverage and contacts, including competitive market and industry information; clip and track placements as necessary

• Draft press releases, pitch letters, etc.; conduct background research and prepare briefing memos/documents for client interviews/media opportunities

• Participate in logistical operations of special events planning and coordination

• Coordinate and distribute media materials, for clients

• Monitor social channels and help assist in developing campaign content

• Perform ad hoc account management tasks as assigned

• Begin to provide mentorship to more junior staff (Associates & Account Coordinators)

What You Have to Have (Education and Experience Requirements):

• At least 2 years of experience serving in a full-time role, either in a public relations agency or the communications department of a company in a relevant industry.

• Bachelor's degree in public relations, a related field or in the liberal arts

• Superior oral and written communication skills; proofreading and editing ability

• Experience in media writing and media relations (story pitching to traditional media and bloggers, writing releases and bylines, ability to find creative angles and create highly targeted media strategies and pitches)

• Strong project management capability; can execute against multiple tasks, including: events, press material development, media briefings, and product launches. Keeps account team abreast of timelines, managing up to superiors to ensure deadlines are met

• Experience working with or a passion for consumer brands is a plus!

• Maintain a professional, client-ready demeanor and presence; keep a high standard of etiquette in all communications and interactions

• Demonstrate an understanding of and affinity for digital tools and platforms (including social media)

• Strong time management skills

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Cision, Moreover, Factiva, TV Eyes or other monitoring tools

• Ability to travel as necessary contingent on client and new business needs (requirements vary)

• Cultivate and exhibit strong presentation and interpersonal skills

• Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and manage time in an organized manner while ensuring deadlines are met
